I beard today that we are planning to hand r&d to H1B and offshore. is it true that we are basically done with innovation? My director is always talking about moving people from tech rolls into account mgmt and sales. He says that being technical and bilingual will get me further that trying to create. Our shift is from innovation to implementation? That would explain so much of the cultural shift they've dropped on us. shame, id been looking for opportunity to work in labs since covid. I didn't spent 6 years in school to sell Ericcson junk.

Why are we still hiring H1bs
There are so many H1b employees in Nike already and this is still continuing.
When Americans are losing jobs and so many qualified engineers are looking for work we continue hiring fresh h1b graduates.
This is wrong.

H1-B and TN hires in droves!
I recently saw a list of at least 50 new hires and 96% of them were TN or H1-B. Ford is hiring droves of them.
H1B brings in strong talent, believe it or not
Honestly, Cisco runs on H-1B talent in a very real way—just like a lot of big tech—because it brings in people with deep, specific skills that are hard to find at the exact scale and speed the work demands. These aren’t random hires; a lot of them have strong engineering backgrounds and advanced degrees in areas like software, networking, security, and data. And yeah, it can make things feel more competitive for Americans, but that’s kind of the point: the world isn’t slowing down, and neither is the industry. If you don’t get the role you wanted, you can either sit around and blame the system, or you can level up and come back stronger. That’s the difference between a grown-up mindset and a baby mindset—Cisco (and the people who thrive there) reward the folks who adapt, learn, and keep pushing.
This layoff scheme needs to be investigated
American workers ideas and intellectual property is stolen when they are laid off. Then cheap H1Bs are hired to do the implementation. This is the turbo scam of our time.

filter by 2025. quite a few high salary ones in spring. the way the job market is, no way these can't be filled by a US citizen.
H1B Salary Hikes
H1B Salaries are expected to be raised in next 6m. Expect a bump up from 150K min to 210K min. the best ones who are getting around 180K should be given salary of 240K+
Now with above salary raises coming, does Oracle plans to give more money to H1B or retain US employees in their layoffs. All through these years, Oracle has fostered H1B so they can give low pay.
H1B justification
Rumor has it that state street posts the positions after a U.S. employee leaves for 30 days but either freezes or pulls it so they can justify adding it to the H1B pool.
Anyone believe this to be true?
FYSA: Mr. Schulman, H-1B visa price hike deemed lawful by federal judge.
FYSA: Mr. Schulman, H-1B visa price hike deemed lawful by federal judge.
A federal judge has rejected a challenge to the White House's proposed $100,000 application fee for H-1B visas. The court ruled the price increase is lawful, citing the president's "broad statutory authority." Separately, the Trump administration announced it will end the lottery-based work visa system in favor of a new weighted selection process. Officials claim the changes will prioritize higher-paid, higher-skilled applicants. The updates follow months of shifting guidance on fees and restrictions tied to the visa program, which is widely used by technology companies to hire foreign talent.
"H-1B visa applicants" face more disruptions amid social media checks and wage protection rules
A.) The U.S. has started conducting online presence reviews of all H-1B and H-4 visa applicants in a bid to curb what it refers to as the “abuse” of the program.
B.) The wage protection law proposed by the Department of Labor last week could dissuade companies from sponsoring H-1B visas.
C.) Any changes to the H-1B rules will likely disproportionately hurt Indians, as they make up more than 70% of the recipients in recent years.

H1B 2026 roles - what’s in store for us
Concerned what I see with companies this year with hiring & retaining H1B status employees. Trump’s shift on H1B quotas & increased cost is really encouraging most companies to avoid sponsoring H1B anymore. What moves will Cisco do with H1Bs in 2026, I getting more worried for 2026…

US labor secretary's statement stating H-1B's are visa scams alarms US tech workers worried over tech behemoths engaged in mass layoffs
President Trump’s Secretary of Labor, Lori Chavez-DeRemer, had a one-on-one interview this week with The Daily Signal, a media outlet founded by The Heritage Foundation, the influential conservative think tank.
Chavez-DeRemer said her agency is currently working on almost 200 investigations, including the efforts of “Project Firewall,” an initiative that specifically monitors companies that are scamming and abusing the H-1B vias program.
Chavez-DeRemer asserts that before U.S. companies apply for the H-1B visa program, “you want to advertise to the American worker first, you want to make sure you can’t find an American worker first, and then apply for the H-1B program.”
She added, “The goal is to make sure that we have a trained workforce. So if these companies are going to use the program, we want to make sure that they’re also training American workers, so we can offer it to them first.”
U.S. Tech Workers, a nonprofit group formed by the Institute for Sound Public Policy to pressure the federal government for visa program reform and ensure companies hire U.S. tech workers first before recruiting abroad, responded to the Secretary’s comments.
U.S. Tech Workers characterizes as literal Chavez-DeRemer’s description of her ideal situation — companies advertising to American workers first — and wrote to clarify the limits of the actual legal responsibilities of H-1B employers: “Alarming to see @SecretaryLCD get basic H-1B facts wrong. She claims employers must first advertise jobs to Americans first-which is FALSE. There's no labor market test required, just self-attestation. How can you reform a program to protect Americans if you don't understand it?”
U.S. Tech Workers added: “It also appears that Project Firewall is merely targeting low-hanging IT bodyshops that once published ‘hiring H-1B only’ on job ads, rather than going after the Big Tech behemoths engaged in mass layoffs while simultaneously sponsoring visas. No structural rule changes are being proposed, such as closing the outsourcing loophole or raising the prevailing wage requirements. Disappointing @USDOL.”
The U.S. Tech Workers is not without influence or connections. The founder of the group, Kevin Lynn, met with President Trump at the White House in August 2020, when the President signed an executive order to, according to Trump, “finalize H1-B regulations so that no American worker is replaced ever again. H1-Bs, which are a scam should be used for top, highly paid talent to create American jobs, not as inexpensive labor program to destroy American jobs.”
Why is Dell still sponsoring H1bs?
I still have no clue why Dell is sponsoring and renewing H1b Visas while there is unprecedented unemployment in the tech sector right now. They should stop renewing any H1b Visas.
Hiding behind h1bs in tech organisation
The technology departments at Fiserv are a total mess. They are packed with Indian folks grabbing all the high-level spots like CIOs/SVPs, and then those guys keep hiring more “H1B” visa holders from India for their teams instead of Americans. They are bending or breaking immigration rules to hang onto their preferred H1Bs for leadership jobs that any American could easily do. This goes against everything Trump’s pushing to make America great again. They will also file a green card for each of them and will keep requesting for extensions, misusing the h1b clause. USCIS should soon audit Fiserv workforce to make sure it is not letting the core payments processor of America misuse any laws.
Why you need H1b any more for an Infra company?
Oracle has declared itself as infra company. I see large number of people are just copy pasting from llm’s. Do we still need this special talents for copy pasting from llm’s ? Rather save local job market.
I don’t blame h1b candidates but the job market has shifted and there is no special need for you anymore. We locals have to survive and not in the cost of paying less for you and your management playing politics.
Chances of getting a new job is bleak
When someone submits a resume today, they have the abysmally low 0.4% chance of actually getting the job, per Business Insider.
Thanks to Trump for letting h1b visa workers to compete against the American workers.
Heard from the same "leader" on the same call, within 10 minutes of each other.
"This team should not exist."
"I appreciate everything you do, every day."
While showing a deck that is clearly a roadmap for getting rid of the entire group, and other comments that made it clear they intend to keep nobody from that group. It's obvious the reason they're bringing so many H1-B into the bank is that they have zero loyalty to anyone other than their paycheck.

Why the sudden influx of Malaysian and Chinese engineers?
This is very odd in oregon. What is happening?
And, here you have it now...
LTIMindtree, one of India’s leading IT and digital services firms, will stop filing new H-1B visa applications going forward, according to a report by Moneycontrol.
The company’s CEO, Venugopal Lambu (Venu), said the organisation will now focus on hiring more local talent in overseas markets.
Lambu’s announcement comes at a time when the United States is witnessing intense debate over the H-1B “specialty occupation” visa category.
The Trump administration also introduced a blanket fee of 100,000 dollars for new H-1B filings through a proclamation issued in September.
For years, MAGA-aligned politicians and their supporters have argued that major tech companies rely too heavily on foreign workers instead of hiring Americans. Many critics have even labelled the current visa system a “fraud” or “scam.”
Lambu clarified that LTIMindtree’s new policy applies only to fresh petitions under the upcoming H-1B lottery cycle.
Renewals for existing employees will continue unchanged, mirroring the way Trump’s new 100,000 dollar fee applies only to new applications. This strongly indicates that the steep fee played a major role in the company’s decision.
He added that LTIMindtree may reconsider its stance if U.S. regulations change in the future.
How Many H-1B Employees Does LTIMindtree Have?
Lambu told Moneycontrol that the company currently employs around 4,000 H-1B workers in the U.S., out of a global workforce of more than 86,000.
He noted that LTIMindtree has already reduced its dependency on the visa category and built systems to support onsite hiring.
Looking ahead, Lambu stressed the importance of hiring locally to control costs and improve profitability.
He pointed out that the company generated 64 million dollars in additional revenue in the first half of FY26, even as its net headcount decreased.
Outlining LTIMindtree’s long-term vision, Lambu said the company aims to grow revenue without proportionally increasing staff numbers.
“If we are growing 2X over the next five years, the headcount should grow only about 1.2X to 1.3X,” he told Moneycontrol.

Former US Representative and economist Dr Dave Brat has alleged widespread fraud within the H-1B visa system, claiming in a podcast that India’s Chennai district (Tamil Nadu) secured more than twice the total number of visas legally permitted nationwide.
Speaking on the podcast, Brat said the H-1B system had been "captured by industrial-scale fraud", asserting that visa allocations from India were surpassing the statutory limits.

H-1B: A visa Program Built on a Lie by our Politicians & Corporations
Washington loves to pretend that the H-1B visa is a pipeline of brilliance — a system designed to bring the world’s top talent to America. That fiction survives only because no one in power is willing to say the obvious: the H-1B program isn’t about skill, innovation, or shortages. It’s about cheap, compliant labor.
There is no real skills filter or university accreditation in the H-1B program. Outside of fashion models, the law requires nothing more than a bachelor’s degree. An entire cottage industry now exists to sell “qualifications” to foreign nationals seeking visas.
The law requires nothing more than a bachelor’s degree, and even that can be — and often is — purchased from diploma mills that exist solely to manufacture “credentials” for visa petitions. USCIS doesn’t track where degrees come from, doesn’t verify quality, authenticity , and doesn’t even know how many H-1B approvals rest on fraudulent foundations or real credentialed university . Ignorance isn’t an accident. It’s policy.
If this were a talent program, visas wouldn’t be handed out by lottery. The very existence of a random drawing exposes the truth: employers don’t care who they get, so long as they get someone cheaper.
Why other countries allow their best of the best sent to America if they can help their country compete and succeed in global technology at their home country.
H-1B was never built to solve shortages. It was built to create a new class of workers who can’t negotiate, can’t easily switch jobs, and have every incentive to stay silent. The winners are the corporations that profit from the loopholes , The politicians who receive money from corporations. Losers are American workers with collage degree with a lot of debt— and the integrity of our labor law and immigration system.
