Google Decision Maker(s) Must Resign in Disgrace
Congratulations Canon, every business school in America will be teaching the “Google Disaster of 2026” case study for generations to come. You will join the likes of Enron, the “New Coke” disaster of the 1980’s, and “Rank & Yank” at General Electric as classic stories of failure and controversy.
The essence of the problem is that the decision-makers do not know, or care, what goes on within the organization. They do not know the tools or use the tools. All they see is the price tag. Need a PP presentation? Secretary will do it. Need a report? Let the bottom feeders pull it. All they say is “collaboration this, collaboration that”. Dude, you can’t even send your own effing emails under your own name. Collaboration doesn’t mean let others do everything for me.
I respect the leaders of small businesses who are in the trenches everyday, hands-on with the daily operations, knowledge of all the systems and processes. Yes, these honorable, hard-working executives do exist, I’ve witnessed it firsthand during my career.
I am absolutely disgusted with how out of touch the decision-makers are at Canon. They don’t care, so neither should you. That’s the way I see it. When employees become apathetic, that’s when the business ceases to exist.
Directly from Google Gemini:
“While Google Workspace is a strong choice for small to medium-sized businesses and those prioritizing real-time collaboration, it may not be appropriate for all large corporations, particularly those with specific needs for deep, complex features, high-level compliance, or existing Microsoft infrastructure.
Potential Shortcomings for Large Corporations:
Feature Depth: Google Workspace applications, such as Google Sheets and Docs, may not be as fully-featured or powerful as traditional desktop applications like Microsoft Excel for complex calculations and specialized functions used by power users.
Existing Infrastructure & Compatibility: Many large enterprises are already deeply integrated into the Microsoft ecosystem (Active Directory, SharePoint, etc.). The cost and disruption of migrating to Google Workspace can outweigh the benefits.
Advanced Administration & Security Controls: While Google Workspace offers robust security and admin tools, Microsoft 365 is often perceived as providing more advanced, granular administrative controls and a long history of enterprise-level security built for highly regulated industries (e.g., finance, healthcare).
Industry-Specific Compliance: For industries that require strict regulatory compliance, the perception is that Microsoft 365 offers more comprehensive and established features, though Google does provide contractual commitments and capabilities to help address requirements like EU data protection laws.
User Inertia: Resistance to change from employees accustomed to the Microsoft suite (Outlook, Word, Excel) can be a significant hurdle to adoption, leading to potential training issues and reduced productivity during a transition.”
who decided who need to go during the layoffs period?
I hope a manager can answer this question. How does this work?
Who decided how many headcount need to be fire?
It it decided by corporate HR , manager level, VP, or some other department?
Who came up with the idea to get rid of S&AS
ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND??? Whoever decided that scheduling can be automated has not spent a single day in this department.
Everyone in the top leadership is deluded and your subordinates are too scared to speak.
Well this is interesting….

So now David Joyner will be president, CEO, and chairman of the board. One guy in charge of everything, making all the decisions. I don’t know if that’s good or bad, but CVS is now going “all-in” on Mr. Joyner.
Thoughts on CEO Message
Any insight on what this message means?
"[We will be] initiating a two-year, $200M "cost-out" program that simplifies our matrix, improves agility and decision-making speed and enables greater investments in growth of New BD."
Bottom performer emails?
Any word on the specifics of these emails and timelines? I’m hearing names drop all around me at neighboring locations but don’t understand how these decisions are being made.
Quick action/Bad decision
While the RIF may be needed to cut cost and financially support or spend on new areas but the outcome of a quick decision like this usually does not work out from my experience. The employees did not get much time since the announcement was made. My concerns is they will be cutting people not having enough time to look at their scope of work. A poor judgement will be made. The leaders should have taken their time to do this exercise. That way we could have kept the right people or department to support our customers and the network. I just do not get what is the hurry for…
VPs if you’re reading this
If any VP is on this thread please just tell us how you decided who to layoff. It’s happening at this point. At least you’ll save us having a speculate for the next week. I know you’re supposed to be tight lip, but please please please. Just tell us.
Who decides
Does your Band 5 or Band 6 make the final call on your future ?
F150 Lightning officially shutdown

Best decision Ford has ever made.
What should I do in this situation?
I have an offer in hand (been in the interview process for 3 months now, casually applying and interviewing) and they're asking me to accept the offer by TODAY. The pay isn't that great (not a lot than what I'm making now) but the role is quite interesting.
I am a top performer in my team. Should I take my chances and stay in Verizon? Or do I accept the offer? I DO prefer Verizon but I'm also skpectical about my future here. What would you do?
How did they decide who to let go?
Because it 100% was not performance. We lost two teammates who were among the best, and we have a few who could/should have been laid off instead and are still here. It really su-ks knowing that hard work will not protect you in situations like this. What's even the point then?
Who puts in the hit?
Who creates the list who goes? Lvl 7. So is it my boss, or director, or sr Dr?
At what level knew about the layoffs?
At what level knew or contributed to the layoff list beforehand? L8? VP? SVP? President?
Who made the call
Who made the call???? Who do you think really made the call on this round: MF, BC, or the board? Or someone else...
Hilarious they use the excuse of making faster decisions!
Anyone else find it funny that they are using the excuse of making faster decisions to justify the layoffs? To the people at the top, the time it takes to make decisions isn’t the problem, ITS THE DECISIONS THAT YOU ARE MAKING THAT IS THE PROBLEM!! Dei, pride, every decision they make has been wrong! But they get to stay and we get to suffer lol.
Who makes the decision?
Who makes the decision on who gets cut or not? Directors? L7s and L8s?
Saw a comment about a Sr. Director say to their org that they didn’t know and was blindsided by the news. I personally don’t believe that
Not sure what to do
I started my career late in life. Been here for 5+ years. I was offered another position with another company. Unfortunately this company has layoffs like many others in our sector. Not sure if I should accept it or just remain here. If you had the change to move on would you? Or would you remain here due to the amount of time you've put in? Also, pay and benefits are about the same.
Make the choice
If you know that you would be wfr’d and there’s an opening in another company that comes only in 2 years only, would you quit and go there ? Or would you wait for the severances and then search for another offer ? .. let us see some wise answers ..
I just received a job offer to work at Paramount. What are your thoughts on joining right now?
Title says it all. I just received a job offer to work at Paramount. I’m currently employed, but I am looking for something new. I told the hiring manager I needed the weekend to think about it. Should I take the job?
How do they decide who gets let go?
Who makes the decision on who actually gets laid off? And is it mainly the non-senior people who get cut?
Clown Show
Latest idea they had was to remove jira and confluence access to “low users” which obviously reported wrong on low users.
Let’s see what shambles of decisions is next
On the fence
Would there be any benefit to submitting an EOI at this stage, or have the decisions already been finalized?
Was every department touched and who decided who will be let go?
Was the cut through every department?. Also, was the manager or the director the one who chose which coworker to let go? Some team report that the chosen one where great contributor yet I my friend was let go and it look like it was personal….
Chairman
When is he in ? What are going to be first decisions ? I heard there’s a big senior meeting mid September. He may attend.
