I have an offer in hand (been in the interview process for 3 months now, casually applying and interviewing) and they're asking me to accept the offer by TODAY. The pay isn't that great (not a lot than what I'm making now) but the role is quite interesting.
I am a top performer in my team. Should I take my chances and stay in Verizon? Or do I accept the offer? I DO prefer Verizon but I'm also skpectical about my future here. What would you do?

Keep working at Verizon, accept the offer, but negotiate your start date to be Dec 1st or Jan 1st. It will take at least a few weeks anyway to for the new company to process & have you complete a background check, dr-g test, HR paperwork, etc
@OP get out - any job, any offer. Take it and run.
Those who don't have offers will either be unemployed or asked to work 125% for less money. Mark my words.
What is their time line/start date? If you are worried about the Layoffs(11/20), you can always accept it and see what happens with Verizon. Change your mind either way at the last minute with the new Company. You might burn some future opportunities with the new company, but these are tough times to make such drastic decisions.
OP - You are asking strangers to make career decision for you
top performer , yeah right ?
Not the best idea to ask randoms what you should do with your life. And no way are you top performer in any spot if you can’t make a job decision.
Dont take it. Listen to your gut feeling. You are not ready to leave VZ.
If you're asking anonymous people to chime in on your possible future employment it's likely you're not really sold on the new job.
Do not take the offer. Take the package and run. VZ is going through changes.
Dan likes Perplexity for all of his decisions and conversations. Give that one a whirl, too.
Give your favorite AI site some information about you (including age, tenure, what you do at Verizon), the company making the offer, the details of the offer itself, and what sounds like a big RIF later this month, and ask for pros and cons along with a recommendation. Don't hang everything on AI's feedback but at least see what it suggests.
At the end of the day vz had 134 billion in revenue last year. Say what you will about their strategy I won’t argue there..
How many years of tenure do you have? If 12+ years then wait for a package. 24 weeks is 6 months, which is enough time to get a job.
@OP your take home pay may be more than where you are now. Cost of insurance is less, 6% match on 401k, etc. When you look at it from that perspective you’ll probably gain more than what you have because many of the benefits other companies offer don’t compare to VZ.
The pressure is a red flag like the other guy said. I wouldn’t trust a company that seems desperate to hire
I would ask myself why is the new employer pressuring you to take the job ? Red flag ! What does your gut tell you to do?
You should probably take the new job.
Dan has no idea what he is doing which is why the first thing he’s doing is laying off. Vzw has laid off 50k+ workers and still feel the need to lay off more. What does that tell you?
There is no way to turn the ship around if your only idea is to layoff American workers and outsource. If u survive this layoff - there will be more
