Topics regarding layoffs at Edward Jones

Safe Email

Finally got the safe email. At 8:43 Pm CST. I'm so disillusioned and disappointed in this firm. I had planned on searching for other jobs anyway, but this just makes me more emboldened to pursue.

Age Discrimination

Based on what you know so far, do you feel there was age discrimination during the selection of people who are being laid off? If yes, what makes you think so. I know only 4 people who were laid off, 2 are over 40 and 2 are over 50, not sure if this... — read more

How are you feeling?

Those who survived this round, are you feeling relieved? I'm not, at all. Number one, I still can't relax, even though I know it's over for now. And number two, since I know there'll be more down the line for sure, I don't feel any safer than I did... — read more

Livonia

It'd be good if she was to pack up and go back to Livonia. Wishful thinking, it was actually me who is being sent back to Lansing. Nothing more to add aside from wishing every one the best in hope that you all will have better luck than I had. This... — read more

JW in 2008

PP makes what JW did in 2008 to avoid layoffs seem pointless. He is a great leader. PP could never live up to him.

What areas?

Curious as to what broad areas are sting most layoffs. Like are there areas that aren’t getting hit at all or areas that are basically being gutted? (I don’t work there, but have many friends who do)

My team was decimated

We literally can't function with what we have left. I guess they'll now overload us with work until we quit. Save them money on severance. I can't think of another reason why they'd do something like this.

Chubak

Chubak cut thousands at Citi took his payday and came here to do the same. Citi has already hired people back after paying them severance reversing his mistakes. How long will it be until EJ hires people back? Of course DC will have moved on to... — read more

Response to those who say this is normal

No. This is not normal. Not here. 100 years without a layoff. Market crashes, depressions, recessions, oil crises, inflation crisis, housing crisis, lawsuits, wars…. AND NOT ONE LAYOFF. This place was supposed to be different. It WAS different... — read more

This Is Normal

First of all, I have to preface this by saying I know the pain of being laid off. I had a dream job for going on five years, only to be laid off at the end of 2025. It su-ks. It hurts. You question yourself. Unfornuately, it is normal and no one is... — read more

Layoff PI Planning

The consulting firm that came up with planning the layoffs really robbed Edward Jones. I'm in the wrong line of business if you can get paid for this outcome. This felt like Layoff PI Planning. We're all waiting for the final read out.

For those who remain

Myself and the rest of my team (except one person, somehow) have been laid off. For those who remain, I offer the same advice I give people when dating – when someone shows you who they really are, listen to them.

Don't feed the Trolls

There's a lot of baiting posts these last two days. Don't let these bad actors dilute the real conversation and situational reporting happening. Down vote them into oblivion. Don't respond to them on their posts or let them derail other, functional... — read more

I was laid off

I have been with the company for 3 years and was forced into a role I didn’t want after only a year. Then I finally interviewed and moved to a new area in April only to get canned yesterday. What a waste of 3 years.

STL Post article -fluff piece

Nothing but a fluff piece. Regurgitated the corporate lines they were given. So sad, nothing about the culture being destroyed, outrageous executive comp and bonus levels when cutting people.

Tuesday Megathread

Day 2 of the Reimagining. Share any stories or updates regarding your day. Shocked and saddened to hear of demotions and pay reductions while ELT continues to rake in record profits for "Needs Improvement" results. Shame.

Edward Jones is no more.

Today is a sad day. Edward Jones will never be the same. In the face of record profits and huge executive payouts the people that make the company what it is have been thrown in the gutter like trash. Those that remain will never have the loyalty... — read more
