TECH: Alphabet added to Dow Jones Industrial Average, replacing Verizon
PUBLISHED TUE, JUN 23 20265:23 PM UPDATED 20 MIN AGO.
Alphabet will replace Verizon in the Dow Jones Industrial Average
, S&P Global said Tuesday, further expanding mega-cap technology’s presence in the blue-chip average.
S&P Global said the Google parent’s A shares — which trade under the ticker GOOGL — would take the spot in the 30-stock index ahead of the start of Monday’s trading. Shares of the online search giant rose about 1% after the bell on Tuesday following the announcement.
The California-based company will join mega-cap tech peers Nvidia

Yet another sign that big red's best days are behind them.
Financial chicanery doesn't cover up Accidenture's big ugly blemishes... years of strategy chokejobs, all-around leadership idiocy, and reactive Indian bodyshop-style layoffs (woe to those who roll off a project for any reason).
Real leaders deliver shareholder value through organic growth and cost containment, not buybacks of their toilet swirling stock. Employee incentives and enrichment? Long-term operational improvements? Real leadership and strategy? Na! Better to artificially prop up the dog$#!+ stock. Better to make a few high profile acquisitions in search of a rationale at the expense of loyal, long-term employee pay and bonuses.
Do Julie and her so called leadership really believe this toiletpaper thin PR cover-up for their horrible planning and utter absence of strategy is protecting them from accountability? Tick-tock, tick-tock...
Just a general thread on the stock price performance. Causes and future direction.
But sure, the market l o v e s us...
Markets are down but otex is way up today - we are a strong company with a strong story which the markets love
Congratulations, to the OpenText Chairman of the Board, the Board of Directors and the clown show known as the ELT.
The stock price is below $20.
It is time for the stockholders demand accountability. Jenkins, Bell, Muhi, and the rest of the leadership gang to dry up and blow away.
How soon before the price hits $15?
The OTEX stock has gone down over the past year but it’s now at its lowest it’s been since mid 2013!
I was hired last August, and my RSUs are basically nothing at this point. I'm really disappointed with how this company is run, how/who they're hiring. Most of all, I'm seeing more contractors and offshoring. This company needs to innovate, and I don't see that happening here. I'm done here, I'll start applying elsewhere. Good luck to you guys
Lot of analysts are looking at APA as a pump and dump. Expecting sub $23 a share.

It's a serious question. I want to invest in Intel and my current thinking is that he'll make an effort to keep the stock appreciating. My logic may be off but I kind of have a feeling. I have been wrong many times before and this is case is no different but I'd be willing to risk a small amount to go down this path. I'd be willing to lose all money so I'll probably just sink all into Intel options and yolo it.
Thoughts? Feel free to ridicule me as well as I find my own line of thinking both stupid and funny, but it is what it is.
CEOs now openly discuss AI-induced workforce reductions, a stark contrast to previous sanitized corporate layoff announcements. Executives use this brash language to signal AI commitment to investors. Such statements often boost company stock prices significantly. This trend reflects a shift in executive behavior and reduced worker bargaining power. The public posturing can also lead to threats against company leaders.

with Accenture's stock price falling today, will there be more layoffs w/the employees who moved over their from the mothership ?
Stock collapsed. Julie Sweet is done. AI w/Deepseek and Co-Pilot is a bust.
A•S•S•centure had it's worst day in it's history today. Declining sales. Layoffs. War distruptioms. Uncertainty in India. Stock down 18%.
I know there should be no surprise with the price of oil dropping, but Shell stock is tanking. I thought the company would have been doing better after all of the massive layoffs, divestments and stock buy backs. Have they gone too far?
Robinhood announced a 10% workforce reduction. This action affected approximately 290 staffers. The company cited business strength for the move. Wall Street analysts subsequently raised price targets for HOOD stock. Robinhood shares soared 8.8% following the news.

I’ve been with the company for a long time.. 30 some years.. if you own Walmart stock, I’d be selling it now.. the company is on a downward spiral and the stock is gonna crash..
Metric Value
Price on July 1, 2020 $23.40
Price on June 17, 2026 $22.54
Cumulative price return -3.7%
Holding period 5.96 years
Annualized price return -0.6%
serious question..
given the stock price, people being pushed out, nepos in management, no real long-term plan, etc., can we be bought out by another company?
I don't think this run up has much more to go. Maybe a little, but it's a lot of risk, especially after seeing how quickly it can drop. I started working at Micron (Boise) in 2004 and just recently quit. I remember looking at the stock price history after I started working there and looking at the run up to 2001 and thinking "of course it was going to come crashing down." Now, I want all of you to look at Micron stock now, and set the timeline to MAX. Compare where it is now to where it was in 2001. even if you adjust the chart to inflation, it still shows a massive bubble. All I'm saying is I wouldn't be long on this stock. I'm predicting a bubble burst in October AT THE LATEST. We'll see if I'm right.
Our stock being red on a major green day #onlyfiscando
Interested in the cash amount or actual stock amount he was able to sell, or sign on bonuses actually received etc
Assuming this is public information
Get out while you can, save your hard earned dollars fro your family's sake.. you had sacrificed your family time to make contributions to Fiserv stock .. here you are..
Circuit City, Radio Shack, Blockbuster, Fiserv....
APA stock experienced an unprecedented 45% price increase in last 6 months. Time to take them gains before stock goes and stays below $26/share…
Is the break up the end of dividends?
I am expecting a pretty brutal rebalance as we exit the Dow and fixed income funds dump the stock.
Dan will never get stock price to $75. Verizon is $175 billion in debt, paying $8-$9 billion per quarter in interest payments. Not only that, technology is moving fast, which means the next telco displacing newcomer is waiting on the wings. Verizon is paying today for 20 years of bad investments. No amount of inflation will save them from bad debt and investments, especially since cellular plan prices have gone down and increased data to unlimited. If you adjust today’s telco charges to inflation, not good for Verizon, even if it helps the debt burden.
What a load of Rahul, no growth till 2029, that's a massive 12 years after the birth of DXC, and 6 years after Rahul took over, another 3 years away from now. Rahul thinks his swung another $80 million in pay but Wall Street is never going to buy it that far into the future. Watch the share price at $4.
Layoffs don't fix companies or stock prices.
Nike. What a sad mess.

Does the Gentiva Hospice divestment mean anything or just a fund raising move to generate cash to prop stock price up?
FanDuel implemented organizational changes, resulting in staff layoffs across various departments. The exact number of affected employees is unconfirmed but could be in the hundreds. Roles cut include middle-management positions within both sportsbook and casino operations. Flutter Entertainment's share price surged significantly after the layoff announcement. This action follows similar workforce reductions by other gaming companies that also saw stock bumps.

Glad to see BD has finally allowed an employee stock purchase program. I was a J&J employee for about 10 years and purchased stock. It was a nice incentive. Held it for years and made a nice profit rolling dividend long after I left. With the current price of BD stock buy low. It has to go up sometime. Will you be buying?
I know this is for layoffs but just curious if anyone else is buying the stock? I got a few hundred shares this morning because it seems to have reached an all time low. I think we have good products and I can’t figure out why it’s dropped so much. I’m wondering what other people are thinking? Maybe I’m completely wrong and this stock just keeps dropping but I thought Enrique was hired to raise the share price. We lost enough value under Mr. Shock the World.
As an Intuit employee I lost all my savings on Intuit stocks. I hold him accountable.
Stink is a genius, RTO is working!!!
Fidelity owns 10% of SpaceX, ironic that employees can't participate in IPOs but Fidelity itself can. Anyways do you think the success/failure of SpaceX IPO will impact the NAV of chairman shares?
