I learned something the hard way today

In a meeting someone stated something factually incorrect. Not an opinion, a fact. I gently pointed out the error with evidence and you would have thought I insulted their mother. The room went freezing cold, and later I was told I need to work on my social skills. What they meant was, don't correct people. Don't point out problems. Don't be right if being right makes someone uncomfortable. So basically, even if I'm right, even if the error will cost us, I should keep my mouth shut. lesson learned. From now on all I'll do is smile, nod, and let the sh-t hit the fan later on.

Senior Management : Are you really so blind and id--tic?

Your employees flaunt business travel and photos and activites in other countries clocking their miles and airline statuses, on LinkedIn.

All good, do you ever question the vakue of these business tourism trips? These are your leeches attending conferences foing to BTC and Munich and whatever to just ‘meet’ and ‘advise’

are you just id--ts to let it happen while others who work hard and dont travel and dont post on LinkedIn dont get noticed?

Exhausted

I got home from work the other day, laid down on the floor… felt 100 pct worn out…

My wife looks at me and says, why r u so tired? You were just sitting at a desk for 8 hrs…

Some people do not understand that desk jobs can be exhausting too. It is not just sitting. It is nonstop meetings, phone calls, dealing with different people, navigating sh-t personalities, handling stress, and making decisions all day.

By the end of it, my brain is done. If one more person asks me to do something, I might lose it.

Please tell me I am not the only one.

The advice I wish somebody gave me when I just joined

Let me tell you how to survive and thrive at Centene (and anywhere else). First, be your own advocate. No manager is going to fight for you harder than you fight for yourself. Second, build relationships with the right people. Not the ones who are nice, the ones who can actually help you move up. Third, play the game. Sometimes that means saying yes when you want to say no. Sometimes it means flattering someone you don't respect. That's not selling out, that's business. Do it with ethics where it matters, but do it. Fourth, deliver results. Your degree got you in the door. Your results keep you there. Nobody cares about your GPA after year one. Finally, remember that no one else is looking out for you. Not HR, not your boss, not the nice person in the next cubicle. You are your own best advocate. Act like it.

How safe are people in managerial roles?

In our department, there’s this section head no one knows what he actually does. He hasn’t done technical work for years and spends most of his time walking around the kitchen area on the fifth floor(S2), chatting with people, flirting with women from different departments. I’ve heard they are never ranked lower than “average/good” by default, regardless of how useless they are.

Cuts, and job threats.

Every day we hear something about cuts and have are jobs threatened! Do it already! Tired of being under the damn microscope! I constantly see people sitting in the cafe as I go from assignment to assignment, and everytime, no matter what time, there is a old blond haired lady sitting in OC8. No wonder Intel is in trouble, paying people to sit around and do nothing!

NA Deal Desk/DM/Contract Specialists/Whatever the name is now...

Who has been RIF'd this round or over the last several months? I'll go first. I was in October...anyone else? Any whispers about what's next? First they combined DS/DM roles...then they added extra layers of Sales Help and Deal Desk...so they combined essentially four roles into one, no extra pay, less headcount, and now they are just shoving it all to AI?

WPE

I know everyone has their own opinions on wfh, hybrid and coffee swipers but this isn’t the post for opinions. A few people I know had been swiping then working from home and the manager was aware. They are now going in for the full 3 days but have not received anything from WPE. Are people only being fired at certain sites? Can anyone confirm this is happening in the GA or FL offices? I heard that one site had a major review and fired employees but is that confirmed?

Blitz

Just received an email for a sales blitz for Alpharetta, Irving and Temple Terrace. I'm not sure about Alpharetta, but I know for a fact Temple Terrace is being decommissioned within the next two weeks. Items are already being auctioned on ASI 3 auction catalog lmao. This is how bad our leadership is. They sent an email for a sales blitz for a building that won't even have any furniture within the next few weeks lol

This place would run so much better if people actually worked together

What happened to this place? We used to collaborate, now it’s every team for itself. No one shares anything, everyone hoards information like it gives them an edge. Do people actually think that’s going to protect them or get them ahead? Is this seriously where we are now?

Anyone else find it comical ?

I’ve been here awhile, I see VP/SVP’s all of a sudden posting pictures of themselves with their teams on LinkedIn at their self-indulging little town hall meetings “look at me”, “I’m great”, “don’t fire me”.

Meanwhile, they have been here for decades, never worked anywhere else. Let me fill you in, you’re not the solution, you are the problem so save us your vanity posts and how much you miraculously now know about AI or Verizon Customers. lol

The art of keeping your job

Honestly, lately I’ve just been really passionate about whatever my manager is passionate about. Turns out I have a lot of really strong opinions about their ideas and weirdly, all of them are great ideas. I’ve also been stepping up for the bigger projects, because nothing says “please don’t fire me” like being the first to volunteer for more work. I’ve just found that the more coffee chats I schedule with leadership, the more they seem to… remember I exist. Funny how that works. I’m not saying I laughed at every joke in the last team meeting, but I’m also not saying I didn’t.

Just curious what Directors should go and why?

We have all said it, there is at least one director out there that we want to know why they are even here. I personally want to apply out of my spot but don’t want to be in a toxic environment especially when the fruit goes bad from the “top” down. Any suggestions on which directors to avoid and why?

Frat BOY culture

Is it just me or is everyone in or that they promote to leadership roles resemble the dudes in college who would do keg stands? A totally weird chest thumping group of dudes. Many who seem to be clinging to the good all days when they were athletes and now dress like guys that are competent, but really just brown nosed all the right people at all the right times. Bird brains with serious bravado. Not one that can actually solve any problems, they are just real good at deep throating. They certainly never disagree with the big wigs. So many bad decisions made by the EC and no one with a backbone to disagree with them. Not entirely their fault I suppose. The big X let go of anyone who openly disagreed with them long ago. Obedience is the standard, not brains!
