The culture and new management in this company have become so toxic that I cannot stand it anymore, and I am planning my exit. I know some employees have left to non-competitors and they were still put on garden leave, but does that happen to everyone? Have there been situations where the whole notice period needs to be served?

Be thankful you Good Folks are receiving nice severance buy outs. I work for a small firm and they let me go . What I received was 2 weeks pay per year work. So I worked for them 10 years and all I got was 20 weeks pay with no insurance. Good folks be thankful look at my situation.

The majority of the layoffs will happen on Dec. 1, though the company says others will be let go as of Jan. 1, 2026.

Handed in my two weeks notice on Friday. How long until they cut off my access to Email, share point etc…?

Emails to be sent Monday morning. Layoffs to occur Tues and Wednesday.

Apparently the board will sign off on budgets next week (Dec 2nd etc).

Should we expect more departures, or will they wait till the holiday season is over?

General Motors has scheduled 1,140 employees for permanent layoffs effective Jan. 5 at its Factory Zero site in Detroit. Couchbase, a California-based cloud database firm with offices in Austin, is laying off 11 employees in Travis County, according to a notice filed with the Texas Workforce Commission. The reductions are scheduled to take effect January 12.
The company stated in its filing that the cuts are permanent.

Hyster-Yale is laying off part of its workforce, and the job cuts will impact eastern North Carolina.

The company will reduce its global workforce by 575 employees, including layoffs of more than 100 employees in Pitt County.

Introducing a new BNY U.S. Separation Pay Plan (to replace U.S. Supplemental Unemployment Benefit Plan (SUB Plan))
This February we are transitioning from BNY's U.S. Supplemental Unemployment Benefit Plan (SUB Plan) to a new BNY U.S. severance plan (Separation Pay Plan). The transition will simplify severance, align it with industry standards, and provide more flexibility for employees whose roles are eliminated.
The Separation Pay Plan provides financial and healthcare support for eligible employees during career transitions. The key changes will be:
Severance payments will be made as a lump sum (rather than installments).
For employees enrolled in BNY healthcare coverage at notification, an additional lump sum payment will be included as part of the severance package. This will be calculated based on the amount that BNY would have contributed to healthcare benefits for the severance period (with a cap at 20 weeks).
• There will generally be a 30-day notice period during which active pay and benefits continue (previously 2 weeks).
• Severance will not stop or need to be repaid if an employee obtains a new job outside of BNY.
Guidance on Severance Calculations
Eligible employees may receive severance pay equal to the greater of 2 weeks of base pay per year of service (no change from previous plan), or minimums shown in the chart below, with a maximum benefit of 52 weeks of base pay. Separation Pay Plan benefits are subject to the requirement of a fully executed and effective release of claims. All Separation Pay Plan payments are taxable and subject to wage withholding.

VTeamers do not get too comfortable if your job is saved this time around… round 2 is coming sooner than you can think of, End of March to early April i am hearing from a realiable source details are being ironed out. The frontier merger should be finalized before Feb 16th and at that point frontier has 20k employees and they are all not cutting cut, i heard verizon can only cut a maximum 50% of their employees to avoid legal ramifications, that means we will have an additional 10k employee cut again in late spring! If you Don’t believe me ask your direct manager if there is a second round coming soon that was something discussed with them once they had already gave the notice to employees who would be impacted, they had a second meeting with their leaders to debrief. You can also go back and check their calenders yesterday you can clearly see their calenders match at a certain point….

Does anyone know when the severance payment is going to be made for folks in the class of 11/6?

I am fortunate NJ provides protection that requires VZ to keep me on the payroll a bit longer.

Would it make sense to increase our 401(k) contributions for the almost two months in 2026 we get paid in NJ so we get more of the VZ 6% match? Or am I overthinking things?

AT&T has been giving their employees 14 days notice.

I see for some it's 12/19 and for others it's in February. I'm sure there are other dates in between as well.

I was hired in December 2 years ago and in the RIF call I asked my manager if I will get severance based on the last day of work or notice day which will make a difference to get a 1 or 2 years based severance package.
He didn't know and said HR will contact you but no one did so I wonder what to expect as I didn't get any further communication yet after my manager's call

I have an offer from a company and they're asking me to drop my papers and then forward the resignation mail to them for confirmation (my previous job asked me to do this as well)
I initially thought I'd see if I'm getting laid off, since dropping my papers now means no STI, so instead, severance could help me make up for that loss.
But now I am thinking that's a bad idea, and that I should resign and serve my notice period.

When does Verizon notify the New Jersey state regarding the number of people being laid-off and the date when they get laid off or the date they are off payroll? Currently, I don't see Verizon on the NJ WARN Notice for 2025 for Nov'25 or Dec'25 or 2026.

If you resign and are going to a direct competitor, as a C15/16- does Citi generally make you work your notice period, or puts you on garden leave? Or does this vary case by case? Asking for a friend.
