Unassigned Seating in Houston

It’s such a sh-t show! This is how we get better?!?!?!? This is how we beat the competition?!?!?!?! These a-holes torture us for a year with the layoff, surprise us with the return to office 4 days into this circus cr-p of unassigned seating!!!! This is their response to those of us who said we believe in this company to ride it out with you all and get it on track???!! The new op model is a joke and the leaders still haven’t defined roles, requiring us to work a sh-t ton of overtime where we need to concentrate. What a joke of a leadership crew we have. They ki-led this company. I’d have more respect if they are doing this on purpose, but likely they think they are making the right moves. Wtf!!!!!???!!

Make the LT surf a floor for a place to sit everyday and focus on this bs they created! Can you tell I’m pi---d

Security in the Houston area

For those that don’t know, the Verizon stores in the houston area have had armed security in their stores for the last 10+ years.

Today we were told that beginning 01/01/2026, the following stores (Cinco Ranch, Aliana, Fulshear) will no longer need police officers due to the restructuring.

I do not know if the stores will be converting to third party or shutting down but figured it would be good to give employees a heads up to start getting their personal affairs in order.

Nearly 300 jobs are on the chopping block at a major Houston chemical firm

One of Houston's largest chemical companies has announced plans for significant job reductions. A total of 295 employees are slated to be laid off from the firm. While the specific company name is not provided in the headline, it is described as a major chemical industry player. These layoffs will impact the workforce within the specified sector. The job cuts are expected to occur in Houston, Texas.

How many do you think are moving to Houston, TX from California?

How many do you think are moving to Houston, TX from California?

I know of a few people that are g concerned regarding selling their house in the Danville,CA area. This is a tough market to sell a house.

I took the package and I am retiring. Not sure I want to stay in this area. However, perhaps it is better to just move versus being constantly reminded about the presence Chevron previously had in the area.

When does Houston do work? What is the return on $475/hr bill rate for extracting other country’s resources while sitting in a glass castle?

Houston office soon to get hit with a round of layoffs?

With whispers of the Blue Hydrogen project pushing out FID, that project keeps the lights on at the Houston office. If the project is mothballed, what other projects are on the horizon to keep the Houston office busy?

With oil prices dropping, green energy subsidies drying up, and large capex projects getting pushed further and further out, its going to be a game of musical chairs to remain billable. I don't see any other way around a wave of layoffs.

Top this off with their new focus on GID/low-cost-center engineering (offshoring) it seems like Worley is gearing up to whack the majority of their Houston engineering division, and have it only be there to simply check the work of GID, and GID will be at the driver seat for most projects.

Am I right, or am I right?

Any Updates On San Ramon

I am on vacation in Barcelona and have not seen anything in my email on the San Ramon update. I keep hearing that we are shutting that office down sooner than later but I cant confirm.

If anyone has an update, I would like to hear it. I am on a special assignment for the next 2 years and have not been given a new job or required reporting date to Houston.

Wiping History

As much as the decline was evident in the past 10 years I never thought the once great Company would disappear altogether.

"Not on my watch" you know who you are.

Innovex completes sale of 6401 North Eldridge Pkwy facility in Houston, significantly reshaping operating footprint.

"We view this outcome as a powerful combination of financial strength and operational improvement, fully aligned with our strategy of maintaining a lean, flexible cost structure and a conservative balance sheet to capture opportunities across industry cycles.” Adam Anderson

Essendant and CyraCom Layoffs in Houston (2025)

Hundreds of layoffs are coming to Houston as two major companies downsize their local operations.

CyraCom International, a remote interpretation provider recently acquired by Propio, will close its Houston facility and eliminate 355 jobs beginning December 1. The cuts include interpreters in Spanish, Vietnamese, Portuguese, Arabic and several other languages. CyraCom’s Arizona office will also see about 500 jobs cut as part of the restructuring.

Essendant Management Services, a distribution company, has also announced plans to cut 92 jobs in Houston this November due to business downsizing.

These announcements come after recent WARN Act filings revealed nearly 1,900 layoffs statewide from August through October, with Houston shouldering most of the impact. Both CyraCom and Essendant have not yet provided further comment.

EOI or Relocation

I know a lot of us are weighing the EOI decision, and it isn’t easy. But here’s the reality: if you don’t take the EOI and land another role, you won’t receive any severance. On top of that, the Houston move date is essentially locked for July 2026.

For me, the culture here has shifted for the worse, and I don’t believe it’s worth uprooting and relocating. There are plenty of opportunities in the Bay Area worth pursuing instead. That’s why I’ve decided to take the EOI.

To those still on the fence, I truly wish you good luck in whatever path you choose. Just make sure it’s a choice that sets you up best for the future, because staying until July 2026 could mean walking away with nothing.

LAYOFF DATA BREAKDOWN

For those who have already taken AEOI, EOI, or been laid off, I understand that you receive a list showing some demographic info about those who have left CVX.

I’m curious if that info show the location of the employees. Especially for those who were laid off, I would love to see the breakdown by San Ramon vs. Houston. I am starting to think that San Ramon employees have been unfairly targeted for layoff (so, given similar candidates, the Houston employee is the one selected).
