The concept of “reverse diversity” came to me during this chaotic RIF and ReOrg. Apart from architects and data scientists, it is the third problem Fidelity must fix. If you have a team with 100% African Americans in... — read more
No impact
My department has a lot of deadweight and has been toxic/hostile since the start of the pandemic. I was hopeful there would be some clean up with the RIF but it doesn’t seem like we’re part of it since most of us are low level. The head of my... — read more
Question that comes from ignorance…
Hi, I don’t work at the firm anymore. I heard that phone positions only need to come to the office one week a month. I am unfamiliar with what phone rep people deal with, but I know they deal with a LOT of crazy stuff. So, salute to you guys. That... — read more
PHASE ONE
Has anyone received any reliable information on how long Phase One will last? In the 900 building in Smithfield, it’s a total nightmare. Not enough bathrooms, desks, parking spots, takes 30 minutes to get off campus, etc - and that’s just for 50/50... — read more
Architects & Data Scientists
When the dusts of current RIF and ReOrg settle, architects and the data scientists are the two most costly and counter-productive roles that needs the closest scrutinies. **The existence of those helicopter architects is the... — read more
what is after spotify?
I keep hearing the spotify model is dead. Nobody talks about what we are moving to, just what we are running away from. Please tell me not back to waterfall.

Best info got so far -- Decision on consolidaitos of roles across the firm.
This is what we were told : Sr leadership are moving toward consolidating developers into larger teams (minimum of 10-15 people) rather than smaller squads. At the leadership level: VP-level Squad Leaders overseeing non-prioritized projects, small... — read more
$600 M Savings with 10 % RIF
Checked with claude, they may save $600 M per year ongoing basis if they get rid of 10 percent people. They are paying double for Mainframe and Cloud. Also schwab is much leaner at just 35k employees. They may want to hire talented developers who... — read more
Genuine question asking what COULD happen. Might sound stupid
This talk of going back everyday, it’s simply trying to downsize the firm. No way around that. What if the Johnson Je-k Circle realizes this is a really painfully bad idea some time into 2027 when they’re already executing it. There’s a reason only... — read more
Confirmed 5% RIF including Dinosaurs who would be forced to retire.
Confirmed 5% RIF including Dinosaurs who would be forced to retire.
I think there’s a whole lot of BS going on.
I don’t think there’ll be massive layoffs. Big ones are in the news like Meta dumping 8000. This is not a big RIF. My dept is barely hanging on with work we’re so slammed, so there’s no way there’s cuts. Not at the level going on here with... — read more
RIF notice timeline
Anyone have info on how long they will give those who are laid off to stay in their role? I know sometimes it’s security walking people out that day, other times you can work for a few more months while you try to find another job.
Are the rifs just left over agile roles
Does anyone have any real information if there will be a layoff? I checked the WARN sites for most of the states with regional centers and there aren’t any announcements.
Why Architects always survive RIF?
I was told Architects are so special and loved by sr leader that they always survive RIF
This is a twofold issue.
They took away our precovid lives where we had fun going into the office we had colleagues to associate with and life was normal. They forced us home locked us in and then wonder why we’re adverse to going in after we have proven we are extremely... — read more
Are you really serious with all this whining?
No matter what is the motivation for a firm to announce RTO mandate, is it any worse than HAVING NO JOB AT ALL??? In this current age of AI where everything is automated, consider yourself lucky to have a job in a firm who invests so much in your... — read more
Good luck next week if you're hoping to stay
I'm not. I've been too chicken to quit on my own, so if they do it for me, and I get severance, even better.
RIF started
People are getting informed now if their role has been eliminated. 5/5 will be official announcement.
10% natural attrition with RTO?
That’s what they’re shooting for likely, then why further reduction needed?
RIF 5/7
Enterprise wide RIF happening on Thursday FTEs will be notified by noon Contractors will be notified after noon
People managers, you all okay?

As many are commenting about lay-off's, FAS is hiring! Of course, FAS is easy money for Fidelity. Quarterly income for simply picking mutual funds. Pretty much a rip off for the actual investing part- as long as clients realize they are really paying... — read more
How are they gonna fit everyone into the office with full rto?
Do they even have enough space for everybody at some of these locations? I won't be surprised if they perform a big layoff before or slightly after the rto date.
Reorg
My original post was deleted so I’ll filter this one. What counts as a reorg for a layoff? Half of my group is moving to another manager, but not a BU. The head of my department is losing half of their downloaded. Am I at risk?
travel and meeting cancellations
... are a sign of impending RIF. Anyone seeing meetings or L3 travel abruptly cancelled?
RTO = attrition tactic
Always has been. Now with a side of gas price misery.
Questions about announcement rto
Is India affected by any of the RTO mandates? How are they handling for Boston or NH staff the situation in the office? Will these folks not have assigned seats or are they at least dropping that id--tic practice.
