We know so little about what’s actually happening. The rumors are endless, and I’ve heard from several people that most cuts will wrap up by Friday, with a few lingering into Monday. But I honestly have no idea if that’s true.

They do only if you care exclusively about the short-term bottom line. We’ve been losing good people and destroying well-established and efficient teams. And it doesn’t really matter that it’s happening right before Christmas. That fact just makes the greed, incompetence, carelessness, and disregard even more jarring.

ConocoPhillips has laid off 10 to 12.5% of its North Slope workforce, the company confirmed Tuesday, as employees at three oil fields move to form a union.

Two hundred forty-three ConocoPhillips employees at the Kuparuk, Alpine and Willow fields have petitioned the National Labor Relations Board to join United Steelworkers, citing recent staffing changes that organizers say threaten employee safety and reduced pay.

According to the organizers’ website a confidential organizing campaign has been underway for months.

Wausau Equipment, a company specializing in the design and manufacturing of snow removal and ice control products, has announced it will close its corporate headquarters located at 1905 S. Moorland Road. This decision will result in the layoff of all 67 employees at the New Berlin facility.

The Pajaro Valley Unified School District governing board will weigh nearly 160 proposed layoffs, including arts teachers, mental health clinicians, counselors and dozens of special education staff — cuts union leaders say would “devastate” students. From everything I’ve seen, the only real criterion was the bottom line, which usually means we’ve lost a disproportionate amount of talent. A lot of teams are going to be even more crippled than before. I’m not exactly looking forward to all of us having to pick up even more work to cover the roles that just disappeared.

I can't tell how many total, but quite a few academic positions have been eliminated across all of the schools

We don’t expect significant layoffs before end of financial year (Jan 31st). 3Q was good, stock is up and the holiday event seems to be going fine.

Evaluations continue on where AI can be implemented, although progress is slow due to backlog and inability of the tech side to implement and put into production old projects that have languished. Some will be canceled.

Evaluation time is coming up for salary associates so we’ll see the normal reductions based on performance starting March/April.

Probably no significant workforce reductions until the May time frame. Once the new CEO is installed, it’s likely we’ll see some tech leadership turnover to increase focus on project delivery and stability.

We believe several areas are probably safe from the potential 2Q reductions, such as transportation, vision and store staffing. Expect a focus on market management and merchant areas with potential AI solutions to streamline the business side and a renewed emphasis on first to market activities.

We think the biggest resource impact could still be in tech but not until 2Q.

You either bring people who can do the work to where it is, or the work will go to where the people who can do it are.

At this point I would like to say nuke all the workforce and start from fresh, coz I've seen some particular orgs being rotten for decades with politics and performance is no way factored into firing and less competent folks are prevailing, yoo eh, this is the golden opportunity, create a business continuity plan and then nuke all the work force and hire / rehire need as you go basis - twitter did the same, why not Nike...iykyk

Also for next year we have operational changes and more business consolidation, a plan to cut 5% of the workforce for cost savings is in discussion. I hate this part of my job and this is how I vent. Philips Respironics plans to lay off nearly 200 employees at three facilities in Westmoreland County, Pa., according to a Workforce Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) notice filed with the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry. The layoffs, planned for Dec. 31, 2025, to June 30, 2026, will take place at facilities in Mount Pleasant, New Kensington and Murrysville.

Due to the continued rolling layoffs the company has discontinued its overnight support. The company has shed around 29% of its total workforce since 2024 through smaller staffing reductions.
