PC activity tracking

many companies do this but ADP has always been built on trust and results in the years i’ve been there
However they are now testing pc activity tracking tools to measure how active you are and to determine if you’re active enough.
such a shame that they don’t want trust their employees based on deliverables and are now exploring pc activity to measure your value.

Does the company monitor productivity?

I’ve noticed some people seem to have a lot of flexibility like taking walks, longer lunch breaks to go to the gym, playing pool, or spending time on their phones. I’m not saying that’s a bad thing, it’s great they have that balance but I’m just curious how that works here. Does our company track productivity in any specific way?


If we can get detailed reports on hours employees are working why can’t we…

Get reports that are business critical? I mean there are so many things that are backwards but we’re focusing on keystrokes and badge swipes? Priorities seem a little backwards. If employees can’t deliver get rid of them for cause. If employees deliver and they aren’t in the office a certain number of hours what’s the difference?


Desktop Activity Analytics

Verint is the vendor, they track activity while logged into the network. Not all departments have this, most do not. That probably will change at some point.

Essentially it measures activity, idle and inactive time as well as time in applications. Some activities can be flagged, like people that write a book in MS Word by putting a coffee cup on their keyboard, mouse jigglers, etc. Uncertain about putting yourself in a Teams call meeting or other ways to trick the system.

Check your entitlements for Verint and if you have it, assume your clicks are being tracked in addition to network login and out activity. Again, I assume everyone will have it at some point, but you probably don’t as of now.


Employee logging needs transparency

If professional employees are going to be treated like children and have every second with fingers on keyboard and/or within the walls of the designated workplace tracked and reported, and those things will be used against them (and they will, even beyond the day/hour requirements, don't think they won't), they should at least be able to see their own swipe in/out and network on/off time (both in the office and remotely). "We know something you don't know" is a terrible practice.


VPN - In Office Tracking

I know that badge swipes are being tracked, but is time on site being tracked via the LAN line connection? I was thinking of coming in on site working for a couple of hours then leaving back home to finish the day. Technically the badge swipe counts as on site, but not necessarily total TIME on site. I'm hybrid with a 2 day a week in office requirement and wondering how this, if at all, will impact reporting.


Surveillance state

Sometime in 2020 with pandemic closures, the company installed monitoring applications on laptops that randomly captures screenshots and reported meta information. Then came tracking the badge swipes at doors to ensure that all employees ordered to return to the office, did so and did so on time. IT can report how long you spend on Zoom calls, emails, spreadsheets, salesforce or if you’ve got blank space in your calendar. They’ve reportedly started tracking mobile phone location data for all employees- including once exempt sales and admin staff. If you have a company phone, and don’t live in Cali, you are now most likely in the surveillance crosshairs. Enjoy eating lunch or leaving at 5:01 pm knowing that your location is being watched. What’s next a loyalty test?


your bosses have put you in a lower class

they've taken away all of my onshore colleague's work and now are telling us if we don't hit certain performance metrics we will be fired. they told us we aren't to produce any work; that's for offshore to do. and now they're tracking our productivity. couldn't be more transparent that this is their way to fire us without severance or unemployment. my team is made up of smart people. people with degrees. they were told if they studied and got degrees in valuable knowledge work the US needs they could find decent jobs. these people have families they're support.

now we have been replaced by an administrative caste one rung above us who isn't accountable to anyone in this country. many of them have false credentials. all of the money paid to employees of this company that would have circulated in the US system is being removed and sent overseas. you have been replaced. this country is a fu--ing joke and we'll just sit here and take it. honestly if that's how we're going to respond we deserve it. we all deserve health insurance tied to employment. we deserve to be replaced and have our position in society given away. we won't fight for it and of course nobody is going to fight for you. we'll su-k it up and take it like little bi--hes and kiss the feet of our new administrative overlords from overseas, send them our money and thank them for it. fu--ing pathetic
