Ashley Furniture is closing a production plant. This plant is located in Mesquite. More than 260 employees will be laid off. The company maintains a distribution hub nearby. It hopes some affected workers can transfer there.

Cree Lighting is shutting down its Racine, Wisconsin manufacturing operation. The company eliminated 172 positions, with separations starting immediately on March 12. Someone said in a previous post that Belk corporate is supposedly having closed door meetings about this sight. Geesh, I would love to be a fly on the wall at that meeting.

We make good money, have great foot traffic, but just a few of us are keeping things running. The others don't give a damn and all they do is pretend to be busy until they can leave. I'm tired of making money for people like that. Close us down. I'll be okay. Let them try and find another place where they'll be able to work like that.

Chicago, Las Vegas, Honolulu, Tysons Corner, and South Coast Plaza are all top tier locations with lots of foot traffic in the mall and surrounding areas, if these locations are closing, I eventually see all locations going under. Please, if you count on Saks or Neiman's as your main source of income, start looking for a new job, I'm so sad for all the wonderful people I worked in the 24 years I was at Neiman's. Times are changing and not for the better. God bless everyone at Saks and Neiman's stores.

Tennessee's first and only Ikea store will close. The Memphis location is set to shut down in May. This closure will result in 114 layoffs. The store originally opened in 2016. It was the only Ikea in the state.

After CVS went inside the Target stores, they closed their standalone CVS stores near by. Here is why they did that.

Being inside Target, they did not have to worry about retailing greeting cards every two miles. Business of selling toilet paper, kitchen towels, batteries, and laundry detergent was taken by Amazon and whey are bringing it to the customer’s door step. Beauty was taken by Ulta and Sephora in recent years. The only thing that was left was cigarettes, candy, milk, useless technology, and some office supplies. They thought keeping full store every two miles did not make sense. So when the opportunity came to take target’s pharmacy space they jumped on it. Traffic was already brought in by Target.

Walgreens needs to do same. We need to be inside Kohls along with Sephora and Amazon Returns. Get their traffic and boost pharmacy.

Greeting card is good business but not every two miles and same goes for other items.

We can also print beauty coupons if they are shopping in Kohl’s and probably Sephora. Kohl’s does that when someone returns at Amazon desk.

Boise site will be closing on a 22 month lead time. Notifications will go out within the next few days. There are 4 total site closures happening. Good luck to anyone impacted!
