Construction companies lay off 123 workers in Gillette
Hoskinson Contracting and Hoskinson Concrete gave walking papers to a combined 123 employees this week, and an official with one firm said the concrete company will close permanently.
The number of workers laid off is significant, according to state officials, and beyond normal seasonal fluctuations in the construction industry.

What is the over/under bet on the number of site closures/divestments under Johns tenure as IOL CEO?
Upstream: Cold Lake, Kearl, Syncrude
Downstream: Strathcona, Sarnia, Nanticoke, Terminals, Pipelines
Chemical: Sarnia
Or does it make more sense DW finally recommends to the EM board to buy the minority interest of IOL (30%)?

Wexford
Sad day today with Wexford office closing. Years of experience being thrown out the door. No matter the quality of training of new recruits it won’t replace the decades of experience. The clients will notice, but the bank won’t care.
FedEx plans to shut its Coppell location, resulting in almost 900 layoffs.
FedEx will lay off all 856 workers at its Coppell logistics facility, starting in late January, with the site closing by April. The shutdown is due to a client switching to another logistics provider.
Closing hours
Noticed some stores are not staying open as late this holiday season. Is that a sign they are on the chopping list? Seems to be quite a bit of overlap between that and the earlier closing stores, at least in the DMV.
OKC Layoffs
Kroger abruptly shut down its Oklahoma City delivery center, laying off workers through a brief recorded message and ending a service many rural and elderly customers depend on. Employees said they were called into an early morning meeting where they learned operations would pause immediately, with trailers that usually arrive from Dallas now halted. The closure leaves residents in remote areas with few grocery options. Kroger leadership said the move is part of a plan to streamline automated fulfillment centers and improve delivery speed and profitability.

Nokia plans to close Munich site by 2030
Network equipment provider Nokia plans to close its Munich site by 2030. According to the IG Metall, over 700 employees in Munich alone are affected by the decision. The layoffs are to take place in two waves: over 300 jobs will be cut nationwide as early as 2026, and further jobs in Munich will be lost by 2030. Nokia confirmed the closure when asked by heise online. It was a difficult decision to ensure Nokia remains competitive in the long term.

Be honest
What do you honestly spend more time doing every day, trying to sell anything or fixing the same simple problems for seniors over and over again? At some point it becomes pretty clear what the store has actually turned into, and that makes the whole closure feel less like a surprise and more like an overdue decision. We've basically ended up acting like a walk in help desk for the senior crowd instead of an actual retail location, and once that becomes the main part of the job, the writing’s already on the wall.
Any updates on VBG r2b/b2b?
With stores closing it doesn’t look good for r2b. Will they move them out of stores or RIFd entirely?
Maybe Targets can please all you whiners here if they declared bankruptcy and filed for liquidation and close ever store down

All true - Global real estate
Reports that Verizon leadership had denied mass closings are false. I work closely with Global Real Estate. We have stopped renewing some Retail leases about a year ago in preparation for mass closings. This will equate to about 2/3 stores per district being closed. Verizon wants out of the expensive in-person experience and move to AI. By 2030 all retail will be shifted to an app.
I wish everyone here the best.

Retail Here: Do we know what stores?
I work in a part of the country that has stores very widely stretched out.. some of our store are 30-60 miles from each other. What do we think the likelihood of those stores being closed? There is a big city near us that has 13 stores of the 20 in our state... I would think the store closures are going to more impact where we have a high concentration of stores...
Boaz, AL Layoffs (Oct 2025)
Federal-Mogul laid off 80+ people in Boaz.
- Federal-Mogul Closure: Federal-Mogul Motorparts announced it will close its Boaz, Alabama manufacturing plant on September 25, 2025, impacting 82 employees.
- Economic Reasons: The company cited economic pressures as the primary reason for the shutdown, despite efforts to maintain operations.
- Employee Support: Affected workers will receive severance packages and outplacement assistance, according to the company’s statement.
- Corporate Background: Federal-Mogul, acquired by Tenneco in 2018 and now operating under DRiV, is headquartered in Michigan with facilities across multiple U.S. states and 13 other countries.
The Boaz closure adds to a string of recent layoffs in Alabama, including workforce reductions at Boeing Huntsville and AT&T Alabama.
Any update on layoff rumors? Also, closures?
Do you know if we'll have job cuts soon and whos affected? Also, are they planning to close any stores and what's the impact on Shake Shack corp?
If the rumors are correct, Verizon’s 'bold' new direction may apparently include mass layoffs
https://www.androidauthority.com/verizon-shutting-down-stores-3613951/
Rumors suggest Verizon will announce layoffs and store closures around November 20, though details remain unconfirmed.
The company reportedly plans to shut down less-profitable stores and cut staff across remaining locations, while expanding AI automation to fill the gaps.
It’s unclear if other big changes will be announced around this time, though it’s possible that there’s more to this coming shift than just layoffs.
Layoffs are inevitable
Ok someone somewhere knows exactly what is coming in the next 4-6 weeks, if I am getting a layoff then some time to apply to other better companies would be very welcome! Someone has walked by a conference room and seen the closure lists or the new Org charts so come on spill the beans? Orlando got a big bunch of the frontline gone and by my calculations we need about 2500 more to go to hit the number we all keep hearing about!
