Joining Citi was a mistake
Work life balance left the building the day I accepted this role. Meetings bleed into evenings and weekends, and by Monday I’m already exhausted. If anyone has tips on reclaiming time, I’m all ears.
Be proactive
I know how easy it is to worry, but all that is doing is ki-ling yourself.
Instead just keep focusing on what you can control in the job and preparing for if you need to find a new one. Get your resume ready, spend 20 mins a week practicing interviewing questions, spend another 10 mins a week looking for new jobs, etc.
Your worry won’t change the outcome one either way. I know it is easier said than down, but try to capture your thoughts and change them when worry comes.
Good advice from @c7+1kama8na2.
Happy Thanksgiving
Try to relax, if you can. I can’t. I still have a job, but the last month really took a toll. I feel deeply for the people who were let go, and I wish them the best of luck. I can still pay the bills, but surviving this round doesn’t feel like a win at all.
Happy thanksgiving
This is my last thanksgiving as an employee. Effectively retiring in January. There’s been many ups and downs throughout the years and friends that have come and gone. Though it’s not the place and environment I started with I’d do it all over again. Good luck to those that are left with the upcoming changes, I hope it works out for the best when it’s all said and done.
If I have any advice..:.don’t dwell on what you think could happen down the road. Work and live in the now and someday you wake up 37 years later and it’s all behind you.
Your job isn’t a marriage — it’s a lea
Your job isn’t a marriage it’s a lease. And like any lease, you’re allowed to check in and decide if it still fits; if not, move on. For the past 30 years, it’s worked out fine for me, which is why I’m still there. There’s no need to complain. If you aren’t happy, find something that makes you happy.
Transferring or selling shares off the EQUATE+ Platform for leavers
Dear people who have left or are in the process of leaving adidas,
Which trading platform in Germany did you manage to transfer your adidas shares to from the Equate+ platform? Does it need to be a platform or bank with a registered address in Germany? Also, any experience on lead-times? It seems like the transfer process is a hassle... anyone with good, or fast experiences? Thank you in advance.
WFC - What’s really going on - EE’s exploited - layoffs and the non-stop employee abuses, loopholes exploited, h1b sys abuse
#WFC - Now that I have moved to a new company, I am happy to post this. I have never seen a more unprofessional, outdated operating model. The absolute truth is Wells Fargo Bank is a true cesspool from the top, down to the recycled mid-managers and their lies, abuses, yearly Job Title changes, Loopholes exploited, and the Misclassification of offshore h1b(job titles, and USA workers job titles and so called “officer roles”.
The same is will continue theough 2026. So glad I am gone, I was embarrassed to work here at this point. Having WFC is equivalent to having a Schart stain on your resume.
Now, with the new unethical(loophole) mandate raising the salary thresholds, many companies are quietly rebranding jobs to dodge overtime rules. Titles like “analyst,”, “specialist,” or “associate manager/Associate Specialist 4 - Vice President” are being handed out without changing THE ACTUAL WORK. It’s just another loophole being exploited: the company narrative makes it look like you’re exempt, while your day-to-day duties tell a different story.
The law is clear, titles don’t matter. What matters is what you actually do. If your role is routine, closely supervised, or production-based, you’re likely non-exempt no matter what’s printed on your badge. But the timing of sudden title changes around this mandate is a red flag: it may be an attempt to fit workers into exemption boxes that don’t really apply.
For employees, this isn’t just semantics. Misclassification means unpaid overtime, longer weeks for flat pay, and missed income you’ve already earned. If your “promotion” didn’t come with real authority, like hiring, firing, or decision-making power you may have just been reclassified on paper.
Keep an eye on how your job was described and the in-office expectations listed on the JD before the so-called rto rule change, what your duties actually are, and whether the company is leaning on titles as a shield. Misclassification isn’t an accident; it’s a tactic. And it’s one that costs workers the most. This, coincided with non-stop hiring of riskyH1b’s hiring, offshore contractors, etc clearly show Wells Fargo does not support American jobs, nor so they support America’s communities.
Doesn’t anyone think that it is a problem for one man a.k.a. CEO to make 30 million just to reduce headcount aka lay off American jobs and fill with offshore employees(very risky). Meanwhile, there are school-bus drivers out there making $50,000 a year and taking kids(priceless to many) to school and make millions leas yet have more accountability than someone making $30+ million dollars. Something is wrong here.
WAKE UP People. We have the power to make changes. Just document everything!
Layoffs will also continue until the end of the year. And start back up again in 2026. Everything else communicated is just smoke and mirrors. Stack rankings, ratings calibrations, favoritism, sham ghost jobs run rampant here.
When will the regulators wake up to this habitual offender of a bank. Clawbacks are coming for the Schart when they can’t hide the mess he made anymore.
As Jerry says, what a long strange trip it's been.
Couple things
- The company has never ever cared for employees over the results. Even the red chair..
- All the execs posting boo who...If we had your money we would burn ours. Save your comments & books. You all laugh your way to the bank.
- The beginning of the end was when when wireless and landline merged. "It's over Johnny"
- Maybe AI can select a board & CEO that doesn't promote golden parachutes and politically current tears but results. 7 years on the board and now running the helm???? Mentioned he was impatient...7 years watching the ship sink...HELLLOOOOO
- Verizon gives 40 hours sick time. Use them.
- Unless state mandated, pers days won't carry over . Use them
- Every state has its own requirements for termination notification and last payments, understand them.
- Don't underestimate your experience & knowledge.
Will Craig Silliman write a tell-all?
I'd buy it.
Last Day 12/19, STI? Stock Together?
Hey, I see a lot of posts about 12/20, which is what my AD advised, but paperwork says 12/19. It is not clear if I will receive STI or Stock Together. Can anyone advise in this scenario?
It did NOT matter - so for those who stay - learn from us/this
- it did not matter to them: - so many long hours - so many weekends lost for the family, because of deadlines or projects. So musmch stress, trying to give them my best, and in a day - it NO longer mattered. That is the most learning lesson: devotion to a job - it does not matter - we need to protect our priorities over all. In my case, 27.5 years here - and it did not matter to them. So for those who stay, control your wfforts and your hours, because to them, it wont matter.
To anyone who is feeling depressed or sui-idal …
PLEASE reach out and get support. If you don’t have people in your personal life you can lean on, contact the Employee Assistance Program.
You matter. You have value. Job loss can feel devastating. It feels like a violation or an as--ult. Your income and your livelihood has suddenly been ripped away. Your routine is disrupted. There’s anxiety and financial distress. On top of that, you may feel socially isolated without colleagues to interact with regularly.
But your job doesn’t define you. You are SO much more than that.
You can get through this! Grieve the loss. Feel your emotions and process them. And then step-by-step, move forward and put this sh-t show of a company behind you.
Take care of yourself and purposely do things that bring you joy. For me, that’s enjoying a nice cup of coffee and cuddling with my puppy.
Watch funny movies. Put your phone away, get off this fu--ing website, and immerse yourself in nature. (I should really take my own advice.) Maybe there are projects around the house you’ve been putting off. This evening I’m cleaning up my place and it feels awesome and productive.
If you’re a person of faith (or are open), go to church. Writing in a journal can be very helpful in processing your feelings. I know that I have ALL kinds of feelings right now.
There’s absolutely no shame in reaching out to the EAP if you need a supportive and listening ear. It’s all part of self-care.
Sending you big hugs from an Internet stranger!

Accenture
I found this interesting. It is from Reddit. So our Accenture replacements don't necessarily come here with solid work experience as they used to expect from people applying to work at TROWE. In between assignments they encourage their workers to learn enough about various things to get past an interview. Learning a few random bits and actually doing something are two separate things.
"I'm on the bench now, I'm been here since 4 weeks I think. I had a call with my PL and she said that I have to study more because I was failing in every interview. I was interviewed twice only, and It was for roles really out of my experience... they want to staff me no matter what. I felt pointed, you know? Like if I fail a third or fourth time, I'm out... The worst part is that I'm a new joiner, this Is my second month here... so I feel frustrated and very disappointed about the company. Need advice :("

Notice of Critical Timeline Doc -- Exit Package
The first sentence on the above doc says: You are advised to consult with your attorney before signing your Severance Agreement and Release ("Release") ...... etc.
Is that really necessary? And, anyone done that in the past and if so why? If you are inclined to share and Tx.
TMs be sure to destroy your SMs on their Peakon Surveys next month
TMs be sure to absolutely just blast your SM on the Peakon Survey. I know some of them are decent but it's about a lot more than that. You want to make CMs and VPs squirm. Put in the comments, be harsh and do not go easy. Answer everything with zeros and be as spiteful as you can. Understand the surveys are not about making changes, it's about how effective the propaganda is and it lets them judge how far they can pressure you before things explode. Do not assume good intentions, under no circumstances. That place is an evil toxic he-l hole!
Mark Twain on WF
Mark Twain once wrote that worrying is like paying interest on a debt you don’t owe and I couldn’t agree with Mark Twain more. Moana and stay off this site.
Learn not to be loyal to any company
How can we pay bills when the entire top level executives are settled for life. Verizon had a bad culture. Fix it in tech work. No calls after 5 . I see people are crying and I knew they worked really really hard.
Just give a like so it’ll be viewed. Companies now know to take care of themselves.
A friend's brother...
A friend of mine's brother coaches college sports. The nature of that job means getting 'let go' every 3-5 years, always around the holidays. It's a brutal job. My friend lost their job a few years back and called her brother for advice. She told me this...
Routine is key. You're going to want to spend every moment of every day looking for your next job, fight that urge. Your new job is finding your best job. To be your best, you need rest, you need down time, you need exercise. Take 3-4 days to lounge and de-stress. Then make a list of small house projects. Then put your schedule together. Your day should include no more than 4 hours looking for your next job. It needs to include a workout and something for your family. When those things are done each day, don't feel guilty for watching TV or enjoying your free time. Stay positive, we all get the silent treatment from potential employers along the way.
Hope it helps.
If you plan on applying for unemployment...
If you plan on applying for unemployment make sure you research the timelines. Verizon will ask you to sign your severance ASAP. They will not advise on what's best for you here. You will have a window in which to sign your severance. For us it was 45 days. If you sign within 30 days of your last day (in NY anyway) you cannot apply for unemployment.
Don't use my timelines. Do the research. It's important, and they will not tell you even if you ask.
From Loyalty to Laid Off - A Corporate Reality Check
When a leader says they plan to make aggressive changes, please believe them. This round of layoffs made that crystal clear. One of the biggest shocks for many wasn’t just the separation itself it was the realization that tenure and strong performance no longer equal safety.
Many people had been with the company for 15+ years. Loyalty. Results. History. But the truth is, comfort can slowly sneak in when we compare our situation to “worse” ones happening elsewhere. We see other tech companies downsizing and think, “That won’t be us” until it is.
At the end of the day, in Corporate America, we are often reduced to headcount, costs, and line items. Human assets meant to drive numbers. And when strategy shifts, even the best can be swept up in the current.
If you were affected:
Take a few days. Breathe. Grieve it. Don’t rush to “be okay.”
Then dust off your résumé, update your LinkedIn, activate your network. Get your financial house in order. And begin looking for your next opportunity one that values your gifts, your time, and your humanity.
If you weren’t affected:
Let this be a reminder not to get comfortable. Use this moment to build, upskill, connect, and prepare. Nothing is promised except change.
This wasn’t the end. It’s a painful middle.
But there is still purpose ahead.
Scripture for strength:
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” – Jeremiah 29:11
Praying for peace over every person affected. You are more than a number. 🤍

Laid off a few years ago from Verizon… life is BETTER
I feel for everyone going through the RIF right now. I was there, high performer for the company, bled for the company, and there I was dismissed.
If they offer it, take the enhanced severance package. This package gives you 50% more but means you can never work at Verizon again. I asked where I could sign instantly when presented with the this option.
I found another job that pays me 25% more than when I worked at VZW, and I was a high performing leader. Honestly, VZW is a sinking ship. If you aren’t RIF’d this go round, start looking for something better. The grass is greener on the other side.
The sun will shine again, and brighter once you are out of the VZW shadow.
Outsider point of view
This company does not demonstrate genuine support for its onshore employees. Although they offer retention bonuses to individuals acquired from other organizations it is not fairly across the board, they simultaneously create conditions that make it extremely difficult for employees to fulfill their contractual obligations eliminating their retention bonuses obligations. The strict “no bench time” policy, combined with the expectation of securing billable hours immediately, before assignment ends results in employees facing the threat of termination through no fault of their own. Employees submit multiple internal applications submitted with large amount of rejections.
I strongly advise caution when considering employment at Deloitte. The constant pressure to find the next billable assignment creates an environment of ongoing stress and instability. It is counterproductive for the company to acquire skilled, intelligent employees only to undermine their tenure and contributions. From the outside looking in, Deloitte’s constant rotation of employees can make it seem as though they are trying to hide their inability to properly support projects
Additionally, there are concerns regarding the company’s independence, as employees are often pushed toward using preferred partner vendors from which the company appears to financially gain. Dictating what companies you can do business with.
Romans 8:28
Although we often can’t see it when it’s happening. But look back a few months or sometimes years down the road, and it’s obvious.
Is LinkedIn a must?
In today's job search, is having a LinkedIn account a must? Does it improve your chances of getting hired, even if it's freshly made? Been at Verizon for over two decades and I never thought I'd need it, but I'm not so sure anymore.
PSA: get your personal finances in order
What’s happening right now is despicable. It’s also a rude wake up call … no company is safe. This whole “we care about you, V Teamer” is bullsh-t. Verizon doesn’t care about you. Perhaps you’ve given the company your blood sweat and tears for the past 15 years … guess what? You’re about to get booted out. Say adios to your steady paycheck!
YOU have to protect yourself. When you have trouble paying your rent in the coming months, do you think Dan the Hatchet Man will loan you even $.50? NO!!! he’s too busy counting his millions and laughing all the way to the bank .
In a situation like the one we’re in right now, you’ll feel a LOT better knowing that your personal finances are in order.
VERY IMPORTANT — establish an emergency fund to cover at least six months of your living expenses. One year would be even better. That’s how long it may take you to find a new job in this horrendous market.
Pay off your high interest credit cards. Credit card debt is evil.
Save for retirement. Contribute to your 401(k) and get the company match (at Verizon if you survive this RIF or at your future employer). I also love me a good Roth IRA! Tax free earnings, baby!
I’m going to stop there because I’m not a financial advisor. But you get the picture. There’s lots of good free information out there.
As for me personally, I am 99% sure that I’m on the chopping block. :( BUT I have a healthy emergency fund that will tide me over for a year, and that brings me comfort.
The ULTIMATE GOAL is financial independence (enough saved so that I could actually retire if I wanted to) … that way, I don’t ever have to be scared about losing my job EVER AGAIN.

EJ actually has a 6 page "layoff guide" available to help clients when their lives are turned upside down.

Serious advice if you make it through this week
I know most will think I’m a troll or lying but for those looking for legit advice, here it is. I have been here over 20 years, seen so much change and been impacted multiple times involuntary. It hit me hard, I was kicked to the curb but lucky to find a new role within to stay. I know more about how all this works internally than most of you unfortunately(how we’re notified, off pay, insurance, tax, etc). I wish I didn’t. Then, the first VSP came, I didn’t even look at the offer. The second, I looked but didn’t take it. This got my butt in gear so I didn’t get caught flat footed. While I knew I was staying, I took the last few years learning a new skill, a trade so I would be ready to move on one day. I would actually like to stay here. I have a great team and a great boss. I am lucky. But this week might be that time for me, who knows. This is my advice. If you are fortunate enough to make it through this, don’t sell yourself short and think it’s done. This is the beginning. Take it as an opportunity to learn something new that you see as the future of work. You’ll only sell yourself short if you do nothing AND survive this week.
