@aa RIF = fired. You can sugarcoat it by saying layoff since that makes most feel better about their separation w/the company, but at the end of the day you have been fired without cause.
@a9 we're back on EST. just say ET
There should be plenty of SNAP benefits available now that 178,000 unalived people and 500,000 duplicate payments are not going out anymore.
@ac Yes, check for your local state. I can only speak to NJ.
You would be ineligible for unemployment if you voluntary quit (including VSP) or if you were fired for gross misconduct.
All other involuntary terminations (including regular RIF) should be eligible for unemployment, even if you were fired for poor performance.
@ab: so involuntary means state unemployment benefits are a plausible option even when agreed to a severance package?
@aa Maybe the different wording can make you feel better, but they're all involuntary terminations no matter what you call them.
At least we'll be eligible for unemployment if it happens.
@a8: fired versus RIF and if layoffs are synonymous, there is a big difference?
@a8: who can sleep? I am here awake at 1:13 AM/EDT.
@a7 They said stress and anxiety blah blah blah probably getting fired so I would like to sleep in if I could.
@a4: why instructed to WFH for the remainder of this work week?
These comments are hilarious 😂. In all seriousness I haven't been able to sleep for weeks now. D day is finally here 😩.
@OP You first.
As someone instructed to WFH for the rest of the week, what happens if I sleep through my inevitable call.
What can they do, fire me... again?
i find this comment strangely sweet lol
You’re not the boss of me!
Like anyone can sleep lol
