H-1B Contractor Hiring Practices

We would like to raise concerns about our department’s recent fast-track hiring of contingent workers—specifically contractors on H-1B visas sourced through "1nf0$y$." Many of these individuals appear to have limited qualifications. While some possess basic knowledge of business analysis, they lack the technological expertise required to perform the core functions of their roles. It’s unclear how they were approved to work at a Fortune 500 company, given the apparent skill gaps. Internal sources suggest that some of these contractors are personal acquaintances of an Indian Executive Director who is married to an American citizen also another Executive Director in the same department may be influencing leadership decisions to favor these hires. There is concern that these individuals could be receiving a commission or financial incentive for each contractor brought onboard.

In a recent meeting, both the Executive Director stated that leadership intends to increase contractor hiring as a cost-saving measure, citing the company’s reluctance to offer benefits to American employees. This strategy seems to conflict with current federal policy, particularly the new Executive Order on H-1B visas.

Under this order, the application fee for H-1B visas has increased from $215 to $100,000 per year, potentially totaling $300,000 for a 3-year term. According to Commerce Secretary Howard L., the intent is to discourage companies from relying on foreign labor and instead invest in training and hiring American workers.

Given this directive, are we as a company prepared to absorb the financial and ethical implications of continuing to hire H-1B contractors under these new terms? We believe this warrants further discussion to ensure our practices align with both federal policy and our company’s values.

$100k for HB1 Visas

There is no way Shell will pay $100k for the snake charmers. This is the best thing that can happen for US skill pool. Next they need to restrict L1 visas that these expats and LNNs take to come manage us.

Massive self-layoff incoming

Our contracting firms use H1b to save 25%. This new fee destroys Nike’s contracting model. Leadership will probably try offshoring more but those individuals juggle 3 jobs concurrently and don’t do any real work.

Things have been falling apart the last few years and it’s only going to get worse. This is going to be such a dumpster fire.

Major breaking: Trump finally ends H1B Visa

President Donald Trump is preparing to sign a proclamation today that would impose a new $100,000 fee on H-1B visa applications, in one of the most sweeping overhauls yet of the program central to the US technology industry, according to a report by Bloomberg.

The proclamation would also eliminate the Optional Practical Training (OPT) program, which will affect 1.5 million people, and replace the current lottery-based selection process with a highest-bidder system.

Going to expensive to import workers.

Sept 19 (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump plans to impose a new $100,000 application fee for H-1B worker visas, a White House official said, potentially dealing a big blow to the technology sector that relies heavily on skilled workers from India and China.

I can’t believe how ridiculous this place is

Every decision needs ten approvals, processes are unnecessarily complicated, and I spend half my day putting out fires I didn’t create. I was hired to innovate, not babysit broken systems. I'm shocked Visa ever needs layoffs considering how many are walking away from this mess voluntarily.

TIL: F1OPT visa workers NOR THEIR EMPLare NOR THEIR EMPLOYER pay Social Security or Medicare taxes. 15.3% discount off American labor!!!!!!!!!!

https://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2025/09/the_disappearing_american_worker.html

From the article:

One such privileged program is the F-1 OPT visa worker. F-1 visas are those granted to foreigners studying in the U.S. After graduating from university, these visas can be used for employment in the U.S. via OPT, optional practical training. They give a standard one year of eligibility, but they can be extended to three years for STEM graduates.

These foreign grads are preferred over U.S. grads due to a shocking tax bias, they are not subject to FICA taxes! Neither they, nor their employer, are charged Social Security or Medicare taxes during their F-1 OPT employment. This makes them hireable at a 15.3% discount over Americans.

So the corporation is given a tax benefit for reducing the American citizen employment base, the very base that keeps Social Security and Medicare solvent.

The results have been devastating for young Americans, while simultaneously underfunding the retirement fund for American seniors. The IRS details the bias on its website here.

Lumpsum only?

Does Dell do rolled over paychecks or only lumpsum?

I’m trying to know if I can extend my unemployment days for Visa reasons.

No one asked but I’m actually relieved from the WFR, I have been preparing for a few months and now I get to get the big fat Sev package so thats sweet

New Visa Scam: O-1 and OPT

The new visa scam by those who have OPT (Optional Practical Training) when they don't get picked via the H1B lottery, is to apply for O-1 visa. So many are now applying for O-1 visa since they couldn't get in to USA workforce through H1B. The approval rate of getting an O-1 visa is 95%. Normally their are 20K applicants, and most are approved. I don't know what type of EXTRAORDINARY ABILITY (required for O-1) these foreign engineers and researchers have that US Citizen PhD or Masters graduates don't have. THE ENTIRE USA VISA SYSTEM HAS BECOME A SCAM FROM THOSE COMING FROM MAINLY INDIA AND CHINA, TAKING AWAY AMERICAN JOBS FROM AMERICANS.

This is happening everywhere H1Bs are hired.

This sort of thing is happening in every company where H1Bs are hired. The entire H1B system is corrupted and Trump should just reject all current H1Bs and all future H1Bs and all current Green Cards process while the person is still on H1B.

Government Proposes Rule To Reshape H-1B Visa Selection

The Trump administration plans to end or change the H-1B visa lottery, replacing random selection with a salary-based or weighted system. The Office of Management and Budget is reviewing the rule, which could take effect by March 2026 for the FY 2027 cap.

https://www.forbes.com/sites/stuartanderson/2025/07/21/new-trump-immigration-policy-ending-the-h-1b-visa-lottery/
A similar rule finalized in 2021 ranked applications by wage levels but was never implemented. That system would have excluded most Level 1 and many Level 2 workers, categories that include recent graduates and early-career professionals. The new rule’s title, “Weighted Selection Process,” suggests a lottery with higher chances for higher-paid applicants.

Critics argue this approach disadvantages international students and undervalues talent in lower-paid fields. More than 70% of U.S. graduate students in computer science and electrical engineering are international, and most are paid at Level 1 or Level 2. Employers in science, medicine and education could also be affected.

Opponents say the change conflicts with the Immigration and Nationality Act, which requires petitions to be considered in filing order. Business groups and universities warn the rule could weaken U.S. competitiveness by limiting young skilled workers. The broader issue remains the low annual H-1B cap, which covers only a small fraction of the labor force and leaves high demand unmet.

Quick Numbers Rollup:

  • 85,000 total H-1B cap (65,000 regular plus 20,000 advanced degree)
  • 343,981 eligible registrations for FY 2026
  • Nearly two-thirds of registrations rejected due to cap limits
  • More than 70% of graduate students in computer science and electrical engineering are international
  • 83% of computer science PhDs and 80% of electrical engineering PhDs in U.S. R&D are foreign-born
  • Level 1 and Level 2 wages cover about 90% of recent international graduates

People Don't Get It

https://x.com/War4theWest/status/1878879358674510163

People outside of tech just do not get it.

It's a tsunami of Indian workers now, more then 50% of the Americans are gone.

Since H-1B is 34 years old, many who got here that way are now doing the hiring in these companies and hire Indians.

What's saddest to me is you lunatics out there who think merely mentioning the world 'Indian' makes this racist. Uh, no.

They massively abuse the system and are way overrepresented in visas - when we supposedly have country limits. They have violated the intent of our immigration system so thoroughly.

Even if we don't cut the numbers, we have to send 75% of the Indians in tech home. Even the green card holders.

Otherwise you will have an Indian run and staffed IT sector. If you are okay with that, you're insane.
