Anyone knows anything about how the actual move to Edmonton will look like? I mean..will there be any force date when everyone is expected to show up there..or any staggered plan based on departments? Giving it was announced as of 2H 2028 but nothing has been cleared since then

Ever since they rolled out this pos seat booking workplace app, I often wonder the brains behind this. The problem was bad earlier with people just booking (and blocking) even if they are not coming. But with RTO, there is no space left to book. What to do? Anybody encounters this? This is in Canada btw

I've seen the police car each time I'm at the office in Cary. I've heard that it's there when there are layoffs. Is this true? How come it's always parked there?

I have a question. Since we are a Global Bank and I am based in NAM but deal globally, would I be able to go in the office on a holiday and have that counted towards my 3 day requirement. For example, we have an upcoming holiday in October. If I go into the office that day would that count?

My department was recently told we’re being moved to another Wells Fargo location within the next few months. I currently live about five minutes from my office, but the new location will be roughly a 25–30 minute drive each way.

I’m trying to figure out the correct process for requesting a location exception to remain where I currently work. I’ve heard different things — some say go through your manager, while others say HR.

I’m not exactly optimistic about WF accommodating it given the direction they’ve taken lately with RTO, co-location, and flexibility, but I’m going to pursue it and at least make them explain why it makes sense to send me 30 minutes away when I currently work five minutes from home.

Has anyone recently requested a location exception? Who did you go through, and were you successful?

New location in El Segundo, CA opened today and from what I understand the basic setup follows what they did in Atlanta and plan to do in Dallas.

The good:

• Compared to the increasingly dumpy and dreary space we left (the old DIRECTV hq), the building and facilities are a legit improvement
• Sit-stand desks are nice.

The bad:

• Layout could only have been designed by people who have their own offices. It''s open plan slop everyone hates. You can hear every conversation and teams call. The old space, while dumpy, had decent personal space and a modicum of privacy. Great environment for doing focused work. But there is pickleball!!!
• Of course, the geniuses continue with the no assigned seats policy. Yes, there are "neighborhoods" but they didn't have enough seats so people in some groups had to use overflow space. You can toss the collaboration BS out the window.
• Everyone got new chairs, which should be nice except that the seat backs are hard plastic, like you're sitting in the upper deck at a football game. They're going to need to swap the onsite shrink with a chiropractor. Back was ki-ling me by the end of the day. And these cheapo imitations of Herman Miller chairs will be the standard across the company. At least the VPs have the same chairs.

So basically, this isn't awful but coming here is still completely pointless. A fresh coat of paint and pickleball can't fix stupid.

Do we have anyone in San Ramon that can confirm more consolidations/office moves announced today? @ask your manager guy - I asked, she doesn't know :).

I am in the department that houses everything security related and was told by a person who actually reports this stuff...
While badge swipes ARE still being tracked - tracked as in making sure you are there 5 days/week, you trolling mongorals - but VPN usage is ALSO being monitored.

This is to prevent coffee badging, basically. When you go to an office, you have to connect to the building's/whatever area you are in WiFi before you can connect to VPN. Therefore your computer is assigned an internal Dell IP address. As soon as you connect to that, it starts getting logged. As soon as you disconnect and go home, that gets logged.

The minimum time they want is 1 hour of connectivity as of now.

The MN location I'm out - keeps getting areas reserved for group 'xyz'. And the tool to reserve cubes is never updated to reflect that. The notion that 'you can work in any office' that's close to you..... is a farce.

Are they granting just enough of them to breed discontent and further lower morale?

I just noticed that locations of associates are no longer displaying next to their names in Teams.

I forgot how much noise, how much constant chatter, how many distractions there are at the office. I swear I was half as productive on the RTO days than I was when working from home, and I know there are many others in the same boat. Can somebody explain to me the logic of intentionally crippling the productivity of your entire workforce?

has anyone seen any recent formal communication regarding enforcing the 4-day in office requirements at HQ for everyone? Can some teams still do the 2-day a week on average for the quarter and still be in compliance? With all of the re-orgs anticipated I'm wondering how this could affect people moving from a more flexible env to a rigid one or vice versa.

Did you guys get an email about returning equipment. In the post I've seen on here its talking about how to return the computer and docking station. I dont hear anything about the monitors and stands what happens to those? I have no space for this stuff.

Me for instance, I have noticed my productivity has gone down while the hours worked and in office have increased. It's quite unmotivating being monitored for being in office for 8 hours, as well as all my activity being monitored. Needless to say I am miserable.

Can anyone explain what is so important in Cary that they have to post hybrid NOC roles requiring employees to be in Cary three days a week? Everyone knows NOC work can be done from home, or remotely from another office. So why are they only hiring in Cary? Is it to justify keeping the office open???

Why it’s always empty .
Everyday, every time I go there, it empty. Rows upon rows of empty desk.

No one comes to work in this office. Yet they say it’s full and booking is hard.

It doesn't make sense, There isn't enough work to fill the day, what am I going to do for 8 hours? do they still sell newspapers? will I run out of 5G or phone battery all day? The art of looking busy only carries me so far.

I know everyone works differently and has their own preference for how they’re most productive—whether that’s remote, in-office, or a hybrid of the two.

I’m one of those people who genuinely thrives working remotely, and I’ve proven that I can do my job well that way. Requiring everyone to come into the office four days a week for more “collaboration” moments feels unnecessary to me. My role realistically requires one or two days in person, and I’m happy to come in for those.

And when we have a New York office and team members who are still working remotely, what’s really the difference between being at home or sitting in an office for a Zoom call?

Target has done an excellent job silencing its employees, and almost everyone I’ve talked to is miserable. People are being asked to come back to the office without additional compensation, while many haven’t seen meaningful raises in years. There’s a growing disconnect between what leadership thinks is happening internally and what employees are actually experiencing.

And unfortunately, I think the guest is starting to notice that disconnect, too.

Happy employees = better work = better products.
