Like many of you, I got my notice earlier this morning. The attached paperwork said my last day on the books is 4/10, however I was expecting a 60 day notice due out of Redwood Shores to the WARN Act, but I am considered a remote employee. Is anyone else in this boat? Do you think Oracle is getting around the CA WARN act somehow ?

NJ WARN is 90 days but remote employees is a grey area.. But some remote employees in WA state got Jun 1 as the last day while NJ folks got only two weeks.

NJ needs 50 employees to trigger the law and all layoffs across the whole NJ state is covered and layoffs within 30 days.

Any idea how to notify the NJ DOL WARN about non-compliance ? Oracle had 900-950 employees in NJ pre layoffs.

The WARN Act applies to employers with over 100 full-time employees who are planning a mass layoff at a single site of employment.

So if you are (or were) WFH, WARN does not apply to you. (unless you have a hundred coworkers as roommates in your house)

What are the current betting odds that the April 15th all-company is to explain another mass layoff early in the month circa the mid-July 2024 “bloodbath”? Still no WARN notices I can find, but the timing right after Q1 and corporate jobs disappearing in every other industry does make one wonder.

They may no longer be obligated to WARN in those states locations with 50+ employees, so VZ won't have to pay the additional money to keep them around doing nothing for a extra 30 or 60 days. It makes it cheaper to do layoffs after this is done, harder to count and trigger the thresholds.

If you are over 40 years old (in the US) you will have 21 days to evaluate the severance once it is presented you. Based on previous layoffs, it would appear Synopsys is paying at least 60 days of regular salary and benefits, in lieu of a WARN notice. It seems like this is case of gross incompetence combined with a lack of empathy on the part of the management.

Putting this info here so it doesn't get lost in replies. Apparently severance details come at a later date. Because why give people clarity when you can leave them hanging? Very inconsiderate.
