Can I be fire for looking for another role?

With all the doubt around the campus I sent my resume for a role. Turns out the role, through an agency, is with my team and the agent sent my resume to my manager. She wants to meet me Monday, can I be fired for looking for other work in this time of uncertainty?

Seeing a shiiiitload of LinkedIn retirements/ Surpluses

Quickly losing track of how many LinkedIn posts from now ex-AT&T employees across the board, Retirement or Surplus layoffs. One thing the company will find out soon is how Morale will plummet even Further once the remaining survivors are in a constant state of uncertainty, apathy, disengagement, quiet quitting and throwing each other under the bus to stay on payroll. Just look at other companies that have already done massive cuts and are at historically low morale among employees. Newer employees that can leave will already be eyeing the Exit to get out on their own terms and the older employees will be stuck praying for a buyout— but all will feel like they are next on the chopping block. Good luck getting employees to give a F#CK about the company when they already feel that they are inevitably up next. As more employees lose faith in the future of the company you will also see a wave of Executives sprinting towards the exits cashing out their Stocks, not IF but when…. AT&T is circling down the toilet bowl 💩 🚽

Precision Parcel Logistics Lays Off Nearly 100 Workers

Precision Parcel Logistics (PCLG) laid off nearly 100 employees in mid-June. The company operated as an Amazon Delivery Service Partner in Paducah. PCLG owner Cody Bauhs announced the company's dissolution due to "personal reasons." Many employees learned of the closure through an email, causing shock and uncertainty. The West Kentucky Workforce Board is offering rapid response services to assist the affected workers.

What is Everyone's Plan?

We are stuck with "her" until 2028. The next MP will probably be dopey david or some other insane clown worse than PP. So what is everyone doing to keep their sanity while trying to plan ahead? Are you all trying to just stick it out and hope something changes for the better by 2028? Actively looking for another job in this horrible job market? Or, trying to stay under the radar until retirement? I have a feeling that the LP offer in september is not going to get as many sign ups as they hope. They will then use this as a means to pivot to go public sometime around when PP leaves. All under the guise that we don't have enough buy ins to keep the pyramid err uh "partnership" afloat. 1450 FAs walked away last year, a new EDJ record. That should tell you something.

For those familiar with programs like the VSP

Is it standard practice that some "applications" may be denied? As in, you could accept the VSP terms only to be rejected anyway? My manager made our team aware of this possibility without coming right out and saying it. He said "not everyone will get accepted" which I found out.

Obviously Centene stands to benefit from seeing how many people will bite before giving them the green light. They benefit, again, from having a final headcount by 7/2 so that they don't accidentally over-correct. Not that it makes much sense to offer the VSP to so many employees that Centene could end up needing to hire people when all's said and done, but clearly leadership isn't the brightest...

This is the first I've ever heard of one of these programs. I'm trying to gauge whether Centene's being extra shifty with the "your application may not be approved" sh-t, or if that's standard.

Who is safe?

Certain employee groups are ineligible for the VSP “ “.

What are the specialized roles and core initiatives that would be “safe”

Are new team members exempt from the upcoming layoff or just not eligible for the VSP?

Senior executives- VP and up?

Some departments have been laying off staff for months now. Was that a separate initiative?

What to do if boss puts meeting invite on 6/17?

What does everyone recommend we do if our boss puts a meeting invite on 6/17? Does that mean we are toast? Has anyone considered taking PTO or blocking off their calendar day on 6/17 with more important meetings? I am just going to say that our application has an urgent security concern that needs to be addressed or it risks being shutdown. It is a joke how this is being handled at our company.

Will things start getting better?

This year so far was really hard. The workload, the uncertainty, the layoffs, and all the other changes made sure of that. I keep wondering if the second half of the year could actually be worse. Is that possible? Or have we hit the bottom and things will get better? I truly don't know.
