Topics regarding layoffs at Edward Jones

They need to lead by example

Some of the layers were addressed others were simply not. Some partners were tossed out not because their role was eliminated reducing layers as their role still exists on the org chart. This was simply ELT getting rid of some folks they felt were... — read more

C2 and low level leaders

Anybody wonder if low level leaders like TLs, PDMs, etc will be replaced with Department Leaders? Or other way around even? DLs going away and TL and PDM report to Directors?

Career Profile Questionnaire

A couple of months ago, they had all grade 13 and above complete a career profile questionnaire. Does anyone know how that information will be used in cascade 2?

Third World Class Service

Unfortunately for our branch teams, they are receiving THIRD world class service, not what they were promised. Looks like it will get worse. Service Division is trying to get rid of seasoned associates (older associates), while continuing to hire new... — read more

This Isn’t Accountability,,,,It’s a Cop-Out

Leadership keeps repeating it like a shield: “We’re taking accountability.” But come on, we all see what’s really happening. This isn’t accountability. This is performance. This is corporate theater, and we’re exhausted watching the same act play... — read more

ISPs coming

Our ELT member confirmed ISPs will be communicated in August and that talent matching will occur with cascade 2.

I wonder

Do you think the ELT members are getting paid for every time they use the word “accountable” or some form of it?

Forget job security

Real job security today means being ready for your next opportunity, not relying on one employer. Invest time each week in learning, networking, and staying visible. Even small steps like online courses or sharing insights can keep you prepared... — read more

Penny’s talk

She mentioned that we over hired after 2020. So we are down sizing now. My question is why are we still hiring full time employees (NOT contractors)?

Capital structure

We need more capital to make investments for the future and that is part of what this reimagined is about? This is why you are forcing out partners and reducing the size of the firm? What are you doing with the 1.7 billion we have in Lp capital ? ... — read more

Cascade 2

Cascade 1 seems to have had unexpected outcomes - some excellent GPs being let go while some lousy GPs being retained and/or promoted. I wonder if those decisions were based on “protecting your friends” as opposed to truly assessing on capability. .. — read more

Losing executive talent but keeping dead weight

tons of partners being exited as of June — some are quite talented… lots of dead weight remaining…. more money in ELT pockets - not Ted or Jim’s vision — the field should think carefully about lining the pockets of ELT …

Work-life priorities

They'll never say it outright, but this company expects you to choose between career advancement and family time. I've watched too many colleagues miss their kids' milestones for promotions that ultimately left them empty. The worst thing is that... — read more

Captured Screen from Zoom Call

Thought I would share this nice photo of PP letting us all know how she is taking accountability. It is a good one to keep as a memory. https://shorturl.at/u7PSx

Finally found a new job

Took me almost eight months. Considering how horrible this place has been for the last couple of years and that my manager is a genuinely bad human being in addition to having no idea what he's doing, should I just walk out mid-project? I know it's... — read more

I’m Torn

I think the organization needs a change. I see the inefficiencies and the slow decision making. It’s frustrating and demoralizing to never see these great ideas transform from the PowerPoints (😂) into something tangible. Also, I’d like to see us... — read more

One of the 170

Super proud of myself and the other 169 leaders with the guts and foresight to take the risk of the VSP. We'll all be known soon enough and I cannot wait to see you on the other side. I'll give LinkedIn references to anyone leaving with me.

Ante up Penny

If you are so accountable for this mess happening on your watch then you write a personal check to pay for the consultants that you do not apologize for hiring to help “get us” out of this mess? Zero firm dollar regardless of where they come from... — read more

so sad

after many years of drinking the koolaid and having had some personal career success, it's so easy for me to momentarily get pulled into elt's insanity. I looked at the org charts and thought 'okay this makes sense'. But didn't take long listening... — read more

Penny Needs to Step Down

At the town hall Penny took responsibility for allowing the firm to become bloated. She said we had to eliminate people for the first time in our history. She said it never happened before and it will never happen again. They say they are doing... — read more

2 pm meeting

Not sure why we are having this meeting. Its not discussing the Re-Imagined....... what a waste of time.

Amplify Org Charts

I just love that the ELT and Penny actually think that publishing org charts on Amplify constitutes good change management. What a bunch of imbeciles…. Everyone got their popcorn and beverage of choice ready for the townhall today? Should be a fun... — read more

ISP or Lifting and Shifting

Now that Cascade 1 has concluded now comes the interesting part…. Does the firm decide to lift and shift and centralize jobs or commence a blood bath of ISPs. Long 8 weeks ahead of us folks…

Anyone?

Has anyone received their answer yet? The self imposed deadline is tomorrow to notify associates, and of the people that I am aware who accepted, none have received a notification one way or the other.

Weighing my options

I've declined the VSP. Won't let readers know how I'm in the group for VSP email. I've decided though if something better comes my way, I'll give notice and move on. After so many years working and being proud of the firm I worked for.... no more... — read more

What’s with the Micromanagement?

Live from New York…

It’s another ELT member! Anyone notice Hema Widhani hired into the marketing ELT seat as a GP in NY? Resume includes time at Citi, so that checks out.

Don’t get stuck here

You’ll never get ahead. The few promotion opportunities that exist usually go to those who are skilled at office politics. The work is exhausting, the environment is mostly toxic and unhealthy in its competitiveness, and you probably won’t learn... — read more

Micromanagement

There’s this weird obsession at EJ with controlling every move. I’ve worked under managers who genuinely help, but more often than not it feels like you’re being watched instead of supported. If there’s trust in the hiring process, why not trust... — read more

Dear Penny

I took the VSP

I consider it one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I just hope there are enough of us so that those who need the job won’t find themselves on the chopping block anytime soon.
