Looking to leave

I have to ask, is there anybody at Medtronic who is not currently looking to leave? The last layoffs round seems to have been the last straw for so many people that it feels like there is a huge exodus in the making right now. Everybody I talk to is... — read more

Redeployment emails

Someone mentioned here that they've sent redeployment emails to those impacted asking them to consider open roles. Is that really true? And what kind of reaction do they expect? I can't imagine anything other than negative.

Hey everyone it’s me Geoff Martha

I know many of you are frustrated with my complete lack of leadership and transparency coupled with my 28% raise last year and implementing RTO. I just want to let you know that I’m aware of your frustration. I know you are hurting. I know you want... — read more

WFH is not the issue

WFH actually affords a company to obtain more productivity and cost savings on physical spaces. If anything the lines between home and work gets blurred and I work over 8 hours/day. How many of us can say the same thing? I believe the majority. I... — read more

IT is a mess

Don't talk about Global IT. They removed hundreds of people without knowing what they were doing. Now to move something to production, I almost need a DNA test and the approval of the President! No accountability of those who approve either. The... — read more

The management situation is an absolute mess

After going through brutal layoffs and witnessing a steady loss of top-notch talent, what we're left with is nothing short of a catastrophe. Let's face it, the current management situation is an absolute mess. It wouldn't be an exaggeration to say... — read more

Any good stories?

About teams that canned people without knowing what they actually do, and now they are pointing fingers at each other?

Early retirement

I noticed that the majority of the people I saw that took the early retirement option were women. I only saw a sr male leader accepting the offer…

RTO is a clear loss in productivity

I work at least 2-3 more hours every day when working from home ~ 6 am - 5 pm. When going into the office I have to spend more time getting ready and drive almost an hour 1 way, starting work around 7:50. Plus when in the office going to the... — read more

Non-Compete in Work Day?

Does anyone know if and where we would be able to find a non-compete document? I checked Work Day, but couldn't find it. I had recent interview, external, and the HR Manager at the other company suggested that when you first come on board they may... — read more

The Covidien Merger Comes Home To Roost

The Covidien merger that was "masterminded" by Geoff Martha is the primary reason for the massive layoffs. As a 30 year Medtronic employee (now retired) I can assure you that the single most disastrous decision made in the history of the company was... — read more

Any info from management?

If any of you are in management positions or close to management folks, could you please share any insights on the big picture of these layoffs? Are they likely to continue in the US? If so, what OU and functions will be likely impacted? Just tired... — read more

I'm expecting more layoffs

In fact, I think we've reached a point where we have to accept regular layoffs as part of our jobs. If that's not something you can handle, it might be time to start looking for a new job. It's something I've already started doing. It makes me sad... — read more

After the layoffs

This is a very difficult and tiring period. Will anything get better here after these cuts? I doubt it.

What was the criteria for RIF?

Anyone from HR knows what was the criteria for RIF? Who decided the RIF list? Having received exceeds multiple years hard for me to understand what was the criteria. Thanks

On the verge of burnout

Many say very confidently that they would never allow themselves to be overworked to the point of burnout, and then they go and do the workload of several people. Obviously, it's not so easy to refuse adding more to your plate and keep your job?

US Layoffs This Week?

Has anyone been laid off? Or heard of peers getting laid off? It seems pretty quiet, maybe the US majority is done for now?

I wish I was joking

I just found out that my coworker, who's less experienced and less knowledgeable, not to mention less motivated than me, is making way more money than I am! And to add insult to injury, I've been watching people in other departments getting promoted... — read more

Very low morale

If it was even possible to bring down the already low morale, then the layoffs managed to do so. How will our leadership ever manage to restore employee morale? I'm guessing they won't even try.

"The Mission" is so overused by leadership

I hate it when leaders invoke The Mission. Its like anytime they have bad news they talk about The Mission. I like the mission but it is used in such a bad way that I am sick of it.

I'm not looking forward to today

Take a wild guess, who's going to be doing all the work that was previously done by those who were cut? If your team has seen cuts, I'm sure you know the answer. I'm not sure who was in charge of layoffs but I don't think they really thought this... — read more

Are more US based layoffs expected this week?

Does anybody on the inside know if US based layoffs are over last week? Or can we expect more this week? I am hardly doing any work since my manager was fired so expecting that business update meeting in my inbox wouldn’t be shocking

PVH cuts 15% of marketing

Mid-career staff laid off hard. Directors not touched. No investment in pipeline but keep 99% of bloated SR R&D Staff to work in sustaining.

Anti-CEO Playbook

Our story might end like the beginning of Hamdi Ulukaya's Anti-CEO Playbook, but unfortunately, our current CEO Martha Geofrey is not embodying the principles of effective leadership. With a lot of wrong decisions, wrong direction, and too much... — read more

What comes next?

This is all speculation on my part. I have no inside info; I’m a lowly individual contributor. But this is my guess: Geoff is DONE. There is no coming back from this. Performance in his tenure has been poor to put it kindly; morale was already at... — read more

Anyone in Mansfield MA - Tax

Just wondering if they are planning on getting rid the last of the employees at Mansfield MA. They have eliminated a building every other year, so just wondering if the last of the Covidien people are going to be hit.

Global IT has shrunk even more (since RIFs have been happening pretty regularly since GM took over) What do you think will happen now?

With the new CIO, and leaving behind the core and periphery model, and also going away from Regions. So much is changing all over again. Will there be more RIFs? Is there any chances of growth or promotions ever in this company? It's not a good... — read more

No "all clear"

We were told directly by our VP there will be no "all clear" given. Don't get your hopes up, hope they enjoy low productivity and even lower moral. What a terrible plan/messaging. And here I was hoping that somebody here would have said they were... — read more
