Thread regarding Medtronic Inc. layoffs

At what point....

Does everyone finally throw in the towel that this place is going down the toilet? How long can we miss AOPs for until they give us something achievable so we don't all feel like we want to blow our brains out. I am shocked people aren't leaving in droves, I think MDT got lucky with market saturation of unemployed people. I don't think I know a single person under director level that is proud/enjoys working here anymore

Probably going to get a thumbs down but I still love my job at Medtronic and the people that I work with. Hoping Medtronic can pull out of this and come out bigger and stronger then ever. I would never dog out a company that has employed me for 30 years and helped me to grow in my career. I have learned so much and have had so many different jobs and increased my skill set. I am sorry for those who have been let go and hope you find bigger and better things and don't stay bitter.

I feel like the AOP is purposely set high so that Medtronic don't give us our full bonus. Then people will quit and Medtronic will save more money because they don't have to pay the severance packages.

When I get a better job, I'm out of here!

Remember, don't stay loyal to a company because directors and VPs are not.

Absolutely. I left here several years ago and it was a mess back then. So sad that I worked for such a great company Covidien and then it turned into a bunch of backstabbers, kiss a.. people who just were out for themselves. I feel bad for anyone left there - doing the work of many I'm sure now. When are they going to start firing the manager, directors, vice presidents, who by the way are being paid much more to manage the business. Where is the leadership? Where is the taking responsibilities for the failures. So sad.

At 2% raise and 50% of MIP I am losing money due to inflation. Not sure there are any alternatives as the market has really flipped in the last 6 moths.

When I got the layoff/RIF call, I thought I would be sad, but I was more relieved than anything. I used to be really proud of this place and having joined it a number of years ago, but slowly that got choked out by those that advanced were those that threw others under the bus or push programs they knew were bad for patients but would be good for their career by saying look at this major deal you sealed. I feel sorry for all those that are still there that are mission focused, but can't take a step away because they need the paycheck.
