Thread regarding Medtronic Inc. layoffs

Should I join Medtronic, India?

After seeing many gossips about layoffs and restructuring at different sites, should I join Medtronic, Hyderabad, India?
I've heard Medtronic is planning to invest or already invested hugely at Hyderabad. How much of that is true?
Please who have been with Medtronic for long time, what do you think? Will Medtronic bounce back in the business?
My reporting Manager at Medtronic said that Medtronic business is improving Quarter to Quarter and YtD. How much of that is true?

Do it! But remember to negotiate your pay.

I would jump at a role in Hyberabad. That is maybe the 1 spot I'd be eager to get involved with.

Old timer here. Medtronic has been through ups and downs, like most companies. My best advice is figure out if the job offer meets your 2-4 year needs, and re-evaluate every 2-4 years whether you want to stay or leave. Most importantly ask yourself if the job will help you gain skills that will be valuable if you decide to leave or they lay you off. You cannot expect any company to have your best interest at heart because their main goal is to maximize profits.

They are definitely investing in Hyderabad, but if that will deliver what they are promising?... I have my doubts.

I've seen functions building MDT teams in India before and, within a few years, outsourcing everything again.

So, it's a cycle, IMO.
