Goldman is hiring in NYC!

Anyone else? Condolences to those affected. Sounds like the competition gets the win.

Tech: Thank your stars!

Those who're getting laid off on the tech side should thank their stars. The next few years for Morgan look pretty damn turbulent. The leadership doesn't even have a clue.. Alige will fail miserably.. as it has no place for MDs and EDs and the MS... — read more

When your boss asks you to stay late...

I guess this is a reminder to never put a company before what actually matters in life. When you work your a– off for a company, it creates a culture where working your a– off is expected from everyone and becomes the norm. Don't let them exploit... — read more

The sad part of it all...

I haven't got laid off (YET) and I feel worse, I think if I was laid off I'd probably feel better, now I'm going to remember this as, this is how the company that I work for treats people, no matter what hard working and the timing kind goes to show... — read more

A questions for VPs and EDs who manage people

Were you told or given any hints about your assoc getting let go? I’m curious because it’s been slow the past few weeks (for everyone actually, due to the holidays), I asked my manager for more tasks but I got nothing, and this happened.

Other then the fact that the older folks are always first on the chopping block, I curious to know were there any specifics to the employees that got laid off recently? Could anyone tell at their location that a certain employee type was targeted... — read more

Accrued but unused vacation days?

I was let go yesterday ( VP, tech in NY ). Was kind of expecting this since the august townhall mentioned 25% cut in NY. It may be 2% off overall but is mostly NY-centric. Its sad but not the worst given the place is becoming a sweatshop... — read more

Montreal

Some VPs in Montreal lost their entire team. I can't imagine these VPs sticking around for long, and wouldn't be surprised if they will be laid off in January.

Why do people work long hours at Morgan?

"why do people work weekends and long hours?" Almost everyone is short staffed. For some people, if they don't work longer hours, the work will not be done. Bureaucracy. It's really hard to get things done at Morgan. And our new religion... — read more

New found out on Sunday

Layoffs were originally scheduled for Tuesday 12/10. I got wind that the news found out about the layoffs on Sunday, so MS had to scramble and start the layoffs on Monday. That's why your separation letter is dated 12/10. Now curious to find out who... — read more

I was a 50% Agile Coach, 50% my regular day job. The firm wasted so much money on consultants this year, they had to let go of some of their hardest working.

Be a consultant

Poor management and internal politics...teams are already short staffed as is with many employees working long hours meanwhile consultants sitting around at MS take 2 hour lunches and surf the web all day (e.g. my team). Morale is low.

Got axed. After a more than a decade of working in a place I was proud of. Upsetting, but I think of it as a good thing. It was getting insanely bureaucratic and political.
