They are looking to get people (all levels) into office. I know of 2 VPs laid off!
I don't want to act like it doesn't affect me
I've noticed that there are a lot of people here who try to sound like they don't care too much if they get laid off or not. That's a little strange to me. I, on the other hand, am very anxious and worried about what I will do if I am laid off.
MIP
Any rough guidance around what level of MIP we may be "gifted" by the board?
Time frame
If what people write here is to be believed, there are already sporadic layoffs happening. Does anyone have an idea what the time frame will be, that is, when we can expect the big wave of layoffs to start? Maybe before the quarterly... — read more
Who cares about productivity these days anyway?
Bill George, former chairman and chief executive of medical technology company Medtronic, says those are among the reasons he has always been wary of mass layoffs. George, author of True North: Emerging Leader Edition, predicts that if 10% of an... — read more
8000 RIF?
Where is the rumors of this 8000 RIF coming from? Does it include the employees from divested businesses like Renal+ PM+RI ? Seems like a bloodbath if they do go through with this. Almost 10% of the company
Has Medtronic totally lost its focus?
It used to be a company that was engineering focussed. Now it's like any other exGE CEO company. Focus on mergers and buybacks when capital is cheap instead of building the organization and making it efficient. Focus on EPS and what the street wants... — read more
They failed as leaders
Having in mind some of the characteristics that a typical leader or leadership is supposed to have, one could easily conclude that we don't actually have leadership here at all, but highly paid people in the highest of positions who constantly make... — read more
VERP
How many of you are planning to say yes? I'm worried that there will be too few takers and we'll end up having major layoffs after all. Hopefully, enough people are tired of Medtronic and will be happy to use this opportunity to get away from here... — read more
Layoffs.....
Nobody knows anything yet!?!? Spill the beans please
Reorgs have destroyed morale here
It is not surprising that the morale was so low. Here are some concerns that employees have after reorg: • “What are my different responsibilities? My new manager doesn’t even know his or her team’s new focus.” • “The changes have been announced... — read more
Substance and Authenticity
These are 2 key qualities our leadership lacks. Parroting "we must act boldly and move with speed to compete and win" does not convey any actual meaning. Does anyone else feel this way reading corporate messaging?
Reorganization is just a fancy word for layoffs
Yes, some other things are shuffled around as well but, mostly, it's just a good excuse to get rid of a bunch of people. If you are wondering if layoffs are coming, yes, they are. I've never heard of a reorganization that didn't come with major cuts... — read more
Having diabetes sector go in is totally ridiculous and shows their agenda
So diabetes sector goes in to show a vp how unhappy we are in a company that's going to lay most of the BU very soon. Pay is garbage, and their agenda is well shown for the benefits of the upper management in the office.
Another reorg..... Gotta be kidding me
Isn't the existing platform organization only 8 months old? All I can do is shake my head andlaugh
Have you thought about it carefully?
I've never heard so many people say that they'd like to be laid off from here. It's surprising to me. Are you sure you have thought about it carefully? I've been looking for a new job for a long time and I can't get a good offer, so I'm trying to... — read more
The best people are leaving

Medtronic Layoffs 2023
Do you think there may be small/medium/large Medtronic layoffs? Any chatter, news or rumors?
Expectations
What is the expectation with latest earnings and what other companies have been doing? Do we think there will be cuts? We have had a lot of key people leaving already for quite some time now and seen backfills not happening, so I'm not sure if we... — read more

I think we're safe for a while
