Thread regarding Medtronic Inc. layoffs

Misguided website for a misguided company

check out our main page: https://www.medtronic.com/us-en/index.html

section 1: access, equity
section 2: zero barriers, inclusion, diversity, equity
section 3: innovation (with sprinkling of inclusion, DEI thrown in)
section 4: bridge to better health

anything here that tells us this is a high tech medical device company? cause I'm getting NGO, non-profit vibes

When you fill positions to meet quotas that is only going to hurt the company. When you fill the positions with unqualified people you hurt the company. When you fill the positions with people who don’t have the educational background for the position you hurt the company.

I have seen too many hires for DEI quotas that have hurt projects and has caused issues across the board. These hires are very smart, highly educated, intelligent people who are great to work with, but we’re hired into positions that don’t fit their educational background/experience only to meet quotas.

So, for those of you who are one of those you are just hurting yourself by taking a position within Medtronic when your skill set doesn’t meet the qualifications for the job. You have been marginalized.

I got my popcorn out as I await all the forthcoming lawsuits against corporations.

This is one of the issues for sure that has contributed to the whole festering mess but it is not the only issue.

Guys....this isn't DEI message board. It's the LAYOFF.COM------------take your argument over to Cafepharma.

Who's the one person? I actually dislike the CEO because he prioritizes profits over people: patients and employees.

It's appalling how many of you id--ts think there is only one person who believes the DEI stuff has gone too far.

Blaming all of our problems on it isn't fair or accurate either but this is a valid discussion.

Tenant 5 - "To recognize the personal worth of ALL employees"

Inclusion does matter, despite you believing it doesn't.

Unsure why you call him a bigot? Companies have a purpose and you'd expect their website to reflect that purpose. I work at Medtronic and DEI isn't even in our mission (go look for yourself if you don't believe me).

For ex: United Airlines is all about getting people safely to their destinations. Would you like it if their website was all about their charitable conquests and barely had any mention of information actually useful for travel? Now how would you feel if you were also an investor in the company...instead of promoting the company and its primary products, if they were all about promoting their charitable foundation? Wouldn't you be pi---d if their share price was down 40%?

I don't get how his guy calling out the misdirected focus makes him a bigot?

We hire by check box first and skills/competency second. It has been happening for a long while.
