Thread regarding Medtronic Inc. layoffs

How Layoffs Work

Ive gone through many of the threads below pertaining to the possible upcoming layoffs. My question is, if the April 17th date referenced in other posts is true, what is the process? You get told you are getting laid off, but have 60 days of employment left? Or will you be told one day and thats it? Ive been with MDT less than a year, am I looking at <2 weeks of severance? Any and all information broken down to someone with around 6 months of experience here would be much appreciated!

Additionally, if you know anything please add details? If you are in a certain BU and have heard of confirmed layoffs hitting. Or if one function is being zeroed in more than others?

Based on what has been happening over the last couple of months, you will get a meeting invite from HR for the same day or the next day. Employees are told that they’ll lose access to the network (I.e., email, files, etc) that day but will still be considered as employees for 60 days. They still have benefits during that timeframe and can access internal career resources. Employees are also paid out 2 weeks for every year they were employed by Medtronic, and employees are getting their FY23 MIP. Managers aren’t finding out about their employees being laid off until right before that meeting is scheduled by HR.

How much notice does your boss get? Do our supervisors already know if they are going to lay you off next week?

Your boss would invite you to his/her office and inform you the news and explain the severance package. You may be asked to sign the agreement, render your badge, package your stuffs and leave the premise.

Usually, the day you’re told, is your last day. You’re on the books for 60days but your login and badge will be disabled . And then you’ll get 2 weeks for the year you’ve been there.

Typically you are told one day that it’s your last day. And severance depends on your current role and how long you’ve been with the company.

Your boss covers your cube in honey and your choice is to leave or wait for the bees. It’s quite exciting, actually.
