Thread regarding Medtronic Inc. layoffs

We'll lose the best employees if things don't change

Medtronic has created a toxic work environment that is only going to lead to high turnover rates and a bad reputation. There are no positives. Tell me, who wants to work for a company that abuses its employees and treats them like disposable resources? Not me, that's for sure. And I'm pretty sure most people would agree with me.

So glad I left in 2019. I worked with GM on a project and he was worse than Bill Hawkins or Art Collins. At least they left supply chain alone. Omar and GM ruined operations and supply chain. Medtronic’s competencies were, quality, sales and R&D. R&D has been cut or outsourced. Quality?! With operations moved or budgets slashed, it’s destroyed. None of the top execs have ever spent more than 5 minutes in a factory.
Sales may still be a competency- but with nothing to sell- it can’t be a competency, can it.
Layoffs will be this coming week. For those who aren’t laid off, you will be doing your job and the jobs of the people laid off.
Wishing you all the best.

so at plan he was supposed to get what a 100% raise but due to the miss he only got 30%?

what a farce. while exceed exceed barely gets you like 4% and the average across the board is 2%

this joker takes home 30% and apparently that was itself a miss of 40% LMAO. these guys are all corrupt scammers at the top...giving themselves fat raises for no reason, setting the company on a completely self destructive path, and then blaming the individual contributors for garbage performance

Finally got a response from someone at MDT about GM compensation. They said "he took home 61% of his total achievable compensation in FY22 due to company performance". Everyone weep for GM's poor millions.

How can a Frat boy with a BS in Finance degree can run a medical device company? Problem is that he actually has to solve and take decisions on tough manufacturing/quality and supply problems and he is failing badly. Reorgs every year, stopping hiring, cutting recognize! points aren’t going to help with morale or solve long term problems

He gave a 26% raise to himself last year when stock was down 30%. How much raise is he planning to give himself this year?

Geoff Martha is THE problem. He is completely incompetent, uninspiring, disingenuous and worst of all he blames everyone and everything but himself. He is ruining a special and iconic company with his petulance and stupidity. Stupid reorgs, stupid because he set unachievable external expectations, stupid for being toxic and telling everyone they suck…
The board is asleep at the switch and Omar fu---d up by vouched for this id--t.

Yes the reliance on consultants is ridiculous. How many jobs could be spared for a group of people who are more sales people than anything. Pay them a bunch of money to tell you what you already know but don’t have the staff to implement. But why, because we are interlaced in management with….former consultants. Just a racquet.

Yep it's toxic beyond belief. Literally meaning I had to see it first hand to believe it. Every workplace has egos and personality issues but here is unreal.

I am a few years in after finally coming here despite prior opportunities, I now realize this place is the toxic meat-grinder I always suspected. So many in positions of power are more concerned with their own skin than the greater ORG or company. Many of them will throw whoever they have to under the bus to climb the ladder. It's worse here than I have seen, especially the hypocrisy since we pretend to be so inclusive. More like abusive.

We have already lost some key talent over the last 6 months to a year! They spent millions of dollars on consulting firm(s) when they had so much talent and smart individuals whom could have led to transformation if just mobilized well. Now……

we lost some key talent in the VERP who have another good 5-7 years to their careers, its telling they decided to try their fortune somewhere else at this point.

I agree. Approximately every other day I flip flop about staying or going. I would consider myself a top quartile employee, and I can't think of much for why someone would want to work here anymore. My manager and team are great, I am talking about the company as a whole.
