IBM Recent Resource Action

Does anybody the approx percentage of people in IBM consulting - North America let go because of the recent RA that happened . Within that what was the percentage of letter bands (band D and above)

Cutting wrong people

I'm afraid that after these cuts, IBM will regret cutting some of those people, or will eventually have to pay more for necessary replacements. How careful really are they not to RA the wrong people? Damage is easily done but hard to fix.

How do you feel about Arvind's response to the RA?

I watched his livestream today hoping he would answer some of our MANY questions regarding the recent RA, but all he did is say "we are a business" and go on and on talking about stakeholders till I zoned out. I don't even want to look for internal... — read more

I hate that farce

Giving hope to employees who are RAd that they can get an internal job, although it is well known that only a few succeed at it - isn't that highly immoral?

Concern or relief?

Although I know people who wished to be cut, unfortunately, there are many who hoped to keep their jobs and are very worried about how to find a new opportunity on the job market in the near future.

Internal transfer when on 30 day RA

All the information provided says that finding an internal role in 30 days is acceptable. Is this just there for the rare exception, or will TAs consider you for an internal transfer?

IBM looks lost

I thought that I would never think that way about this company, but it looks to me that IBM is lost, without any concrete plan and vision for the future. Do you feel the same?

Selection process for layoffs

This is the question of all questions: Unfortunately, I was among those affected by the RA. I never thought it would happen to me, but it did. I'm curious, does anyone have an idea of how the selection process for layoffs works? How does... — read more

RA's in the Great White North?

Seeing the impacts of RAs in US last week, many in software impacted. Dev, ecosystem, PM, support I know directly. Did not hear any in Canada, and the rumor of significant impacts to Canada, NOT in the Markham lab are rampant. Anyone have 'reliable'... — read more

RA'd? Think you want to fight? Read this:

As someone who knows the rules and how IBM works inside out, you can take this to the bank: . Yes, IBM SHOULD disclose ages of layoffs, but starting early 20-teens it stopped. IBM got around this by breaking layoffs into small distributed clusters... — read more

Don't sign anything

Federal law requires IBM to provide the number of people let go and their ages. If that is highly skewed then you have a legit discrimination case. Before signing anything you should reach out to this firm Lichten & Liss-Riordan, P.C. they have won... — read more

Anybody else playing chess with IBM?

When I was re-deployed I aggressively started both internal and external search at the same time. I just got hired externally and for a significant raise (should be no surprise given the paucity / lack of IBM raises). And nearly conicident I am RA'd... — read more

Applying for other positions

The anxiety won't let up for the rest of the week. I am very worried about being RAd. What interests me is how many of those who have been notified will eventually apply for other positions in the company and succeed in getting them... I don't... — read more

Hey is there any layoff happening in cloud support (compute, vpc, Network )? I heard this will be happening next in USA or in Ireland?

The real reason for the 90 day severance

For those saying the 90 days pay is better than before when you received 30 days, are missing the point. No matter how you slice this, the cost to IBM is the same; 120 days. Prior: 90 days notification with that period time to look for an internal... — read more

Always look on the bright side

I just couldn't believe it when I found out what fantastic people, who have been loyal to this company for years, got a notice. I am also no longer needed here and this will be a stressful period until I find a new opportunity, but I try to look... — read more

On Data & AI Layoffs...

I think this needs to be noted - we did hire like crazy recently, many people came in a very high compensation levels. Everyone overhired, IBM overhired, so this is unsustainable. This resulted in all large companies dealing with Data and AI having... — read more

What is the Retirement Bridge?

In layoff info package, there is reference to a Retirement Bridge. What do those who are eligible actually receive? Seems vague.
