Can anyone comment if direct employees exempt or will also be included ?
How can they not address what hit the press already ?
I can't believe our leadership is not addressing the elephant in the room. There is nothing on mysite. They know we know and say nothing. What kind of leadership is that?
HR system down
I wonder if The HR system being down Thurday to Monday is an indication. You can't access anything right now. Maybe they dont want you to change anything as they do the packages. Followed by deleting alot of people out of the system on Monday
CE Finance
Anyone have insight on how CE finance could be impacted?
How will they do it? Conference call? Who's on the call? HR & your manager?
Does anyone have more details?
Let me get this straight
The company just announced that layoffs will be much worse than we originally thought but they didn't give us any details to go with that announcement. Meaning that all of us now get to guess and worry and stress about having a job the next day or... — read more
Communication
Why isn’t Chris Calio formally communicating this to employees instead of the rumor mill and having it hit the media first? With it “leaked out” now, does this mean WARN act is in effect and the thirty days starts now?
I have it in with a VP and people in HR these are the numbers.
5000 is the confirmed total reduction at Pratt CE, its about 17% of the workforce and includes the VSP and contractors and moving of people to other segments. If RTX announced 15000 job cuts, thats 10000 at Collins and RTX corporate from the... — read more
Layoffs/Hartford
Based on the Hartford newspaper article and a Pw headcount of 40,000 employees roughly that makes the reduction almost 38 percent. Raytheon is not in this headcount. They are high tech military and were in fact looking for folks to hire. This is just... — read more
Lots of talk on Collins' board here on this site

30 percent across PW Collins corporate
15,000 layoffs as per Hartford courant online edition
Update From CE VP’s
The 15-20% reduction includes the VSP and other attrition and cuts (like contractors) that have already happened. They have said the rest will happen in 30-60 days across the entire org. This is happening in one fell swoop when it does. Good news is... — read more
Not for nothing but...
I feel bad about any current or potential layoffs as this is a very difficult time to lose employment. One aspect that teaches all current PW employees would be to always keep your nose to the ground and listen to what's going on. NOT WHAT MANAGERS... — read more
Why not be transparent?
With cuts coming why can’t our upper management be forthcoming? These are the exact things that cause low morale and distrust. Why leave us wondering when it will happen and worrying if we are on that list? How are we supposed to focus when we are... — read more
Its a total sh--show, I'm sorry for the vulnerable folks
I'm a pretty young employee, graduated last December and took this job when the industry was booming. If the worst happens to me (idk if it will, I'm relatively cheap and I have more work coming my way), I'm going to enter graduate school. As for... — read more
FYI No one knows what is happening
There’s rumors but it’s a confirmed 15-20% cut. Your managers don’t know and their bosses don’t know either what will happen. There will be cuts everywhere
Third hand Rumor
What I heard was 3 cuts over the next 3 paydays.
WARN ACT
Does the WARN act apply here for a 60 day notice? If they're planning on laying off over 10-20% which I expect, that would put them over the 500 person WARN act trigger. Unless they're planning on having multiple smaller layoffs to skirt around it
Is today the day?
Very low to lay people off on the anniversary of 9/11
Pratt Kay Off
Heard Pratt Whitney was planning to let go of 15-20% of employees between today and Oct 15, 2020
Early Oct 2020
HR is preparing the paperwork for layoffs in early Oct based on discussion with person who is in the know at P&W. 5,000 workers
Layoffs 2020
Any update on how these layoffs are playing out? All I heard was slimming, with Engineering having the smallest impact. Other rumors from CE higher ups are saying October is when sh– hits the fan.
Overhead and indirect are getting it
Haven’t heard anything about a percent cut, VPs have only said fat trimming and overhead are subject to what they called “slimming” If your job involves a lot of overhead or indirect charging, be prepared. That’s also not to say that military... — read more
Do not listen to the b---s--- people are saying about a percent reduction
VP of CE Engineering said there’s not a general headcount reduction occurring. They are trimming fat and looking at ways to reduce red redundancy. Don’t listen to people saying a percent headcount reduction is coming at the scale of GE. We’ve been... — read more
Here comes the axe
Middle management is getting it this time. Lots of do nothing managers sitting on their asses all day. Just wait and see.
Where is this 20% lay-off number coming from?
There’s no way in hell 20% of the company is getting cut. That’s a significant number that didn’t even affect Boeing or Collins. Quit the fear mongering. RTX cut 8000 jobs already, very doubtful they’d go and cut 20% of some businesses. Back up... — read more
Any updates on Layoffs?
It’s been super quiet and I don’t know if that’s a good or bad thing. I’ve heard 20%. 10% salary/10% production.
Any word on Lay off's on North Berwick?
I've been hearing 20% across the board, but rumors will be rumors. I did see another comment about 20% for all groups but is it individually? or all combined? But best of luck to everyone and may we past this storm still afloat.
Heard from manager Sept is lay-off season
Floor and indirect folk get ready
Anyone hear anything for PW? I know Collins got hit
I’ve heard Collins is getting decimated. PW unusually quiet
Layoffs in September
Was informed that VSP only produced a 10% reduction in force (250 out of 2500 eligible). Not enough. Prepare for a significant layoff coming in September for both organic and contract personnel.
Worst may be over, pray for it
VSP was announced today (2019 was the last time). Furloughs and actual layoffs of production personnel might deepen by years end. Air travel is beginning to slowly recover, so the worst may have finished, but pray for better weather still.
2ND WAVE OF LAYOFFS.
Will the same job codes have deeper cuts? Or will new job codes see some action? Was the first wave the biggest?
Are layoffs comin?
People, is the company having lay offs?
Furloughs 2020
Hope things turn around quickly
