I know this 100% – It will be your Manager and Director, to think HR will be involved with 15,000 people is absurd. HR might only be involved on really, really high-up employees. It can be in person or on the phone. And don't be surprised if it will be when you are on vacation either.

Supposedly managers don't know until it is happening. They were in charge of ranking their employees and sending it up the chain though,
Do managers know ahead of time? Or, does HR contact the manager the day of and then they call the employee together? Management in my group has stated we should be ok, I am not sure what to believe
Sadly, after the canned speech, HR will field any questions, and the answers will be that formal documentation will be sent to your home address that is on file, and that documentation will answer all of your questions.
Both HR and manager on the call. They read a canned speech. Don’t expect too much 2-way dialogue. Very impersonal.
