The process

How are people being notified? Do you receive an email or is there a meeting with your manager? Or something else? I'm sorry if this sounds like a stupid question but I've never been through a layoff before.

What are people getting for Severance?

I know one person who was impacted in SLC with great performance reviews for the past 10 years, HR said the severance details would come later via email. Does anyone know what the standard package is?

Barely got any rest

I spent the entire weekend worrying. Leaving some of us hanging like this is just extra cruel. I’d have much rather known last week if I was laid off than go through the torture of this weekend. The stress sent my anxiety through the roof. This place... — read more

Where to apply if laid off

What are your thoughts on the best alternatives? From what I'm seeing, the entire sector is in trouble, so there aren't that many options left. Which, sadly, makes the coming layoffs even scarier, in my opinion.

Possible Date is March 26th

Whatever happens I say thank you Morgan Stanley for hiring me during the pandemic where my college friends had trouble finding jobs. My financial situation so much better than my college peers since it took them over a year to find a job since their... — read more

Layoffs soon?

Does anyone know for sure when layoffs are happening?

Layoffs

Any recent news of layoffs? The office has been feeling off the past few weeks.

Return to office

Has anyone been fired yet for not going into the office enough? Currently go in once a week.

Coffee badging

Got pulled into a meeting with my boss, his boss, and hr where they grilled me on badging into the office and leaving very shortly afterwards . (I had an excuse) pretty sure I was about to get fired if I didn’t provide a documented excuse….

Layoffs (Maybe) Coming in March-April

Hey Guys, If anyone has a less than stellar performance on your year-end review please start looking. I heard rumors from VPs and EDs about it and someone also told me that they are finalizing budgets, but can't confirm layoffs so I am certain that... — read more

No more mass layoffs at MS?

It feels like there has been a change in strategy at MS - no more massive layoffs every year, a switch to exploiting attrition now. Am I the only one noticing this? Prior to 2020 it was like a clockwork - massive layoffs between December and March... — read more

ESPP worth it?

Is ESPP (Employee Stock Purchase Plan) worth it? It has 10% discount, but we need to hold the stock for a period (at least one year I guess). I don’t think it worth the risk. Especially, considering future layoff, maybe it’s wise to not hold any MS... — read more

How bonus is determined?

Just curious how bonus is determined in the firm. There is no transparency on this. How much should employees expect each year? Does front office like traders earn significantly more than back office like IT and OPs. How much more is fair? — read more

Morgan Stanley Layoffs 2025

This is a generic discussion thread to capture comments about potential Morgan Stanley layoffs? Any chatter, news or rumors?

Morgan Stanley HR is the best in Wall Street!

They have been able to recruit talents with the least possible costs, retain employees without having to increase their pay or to promote them, and provide support to managers in quieting employee protests.

How do you feel about the current working environment?

I feel the working experience is getting worse this year. It seems doing the actual work worths nothing compared to politics playing. Career growth is slower and uncertainty. Getting more anxiety in office. Does everyone else have a similar feeling? — read more
