IOL jumped 4.95% in TSX today

IOL share prices jumped up 4.95% in the Toronto Stock Market today. So, management is running the ship in the right path?? …. Comment??

How's morale in Controllers?

Since we do not have a way for us to communicate freely and without ranking consequences in this company, I'm turning to the this page. How are my Controllers friends feeling these days? For myself: I let the high profits of 2022 trick me into... — read more

Is Imperial getting ready to sell Kearl?

It is very obvious that imperial is getting ready to sell Kearl and other Upstream assets. We are seeing a reduction in opex and capital spend. Plus the risk of a lawsuit for its disregard to the environment. Losing credibility with the community... — read more

Considering working under Rich again!!

I believe IOL was in a better shape than now under Rich. Reading how he is planning to reshape his new company, I wonder if it would be a good idea to move there now. Any suggestion or comment?

No pay today? Layoffs coming next month???

A LOT of people didn’t get paid today. HR screwup? Or are these the next round of people to be “quietly” laid off after our annual “performance review” cycle has ended? Layoffs often happen on the last day of a pay period as it’s easier in the poor... — read more

How to track “Quiet Layoffs”?

I hear of people being let go from here and there. There is no consistency in why people are being forced out. Does anyone have idea about how many employees IOL had last year, and how many are left now?

How to get T4 tax slips after leaving company?

I quitted mid last year, I still don’t receive the T4 slip yet. Anyone know where to find it? I remember it was sent via email the same as the pay slips, but since I left I never received those emails anymore Thanks!

Kearl Layoffs

Sounds like 1500 contractors are getting laid off along with some management at Kearl.

Now what?

So I had a major health issue and was told by 7 doctors not to return to work at Imperial. SunLife declined to pay long term disabilty. Union won't do anything. Lawyer sent a couple of appeal letters to SunLife but then gave up. Not once has... — read more

People still quitting

I see people still quitting after the awesome salary increases. I am seriously assessing my long term career in this company. Are we that broken?

What do they know that we don’t

I have noticed few supervisor and manager level folks quitting since new year. I have seen them quit from Cold Lake and Calgary, and there may be some from Kearl too. With better ranking and higher salary, these people have no reason to quit. Now... — read more

Now everyone is happy after salary adjustment!!

Now that everyone got a big raise, this website has gone quiet. At the end end of the day it was all money. No more complaints about management and supervisors. We are a happy bunch now.

Finance or Project Cost job at Imperial

I tried to get a job at Imperial as I live in Quarry Park area. Seems like one has to be a student or be very lucky. Can someone please help me to understand how such a big company rarely posts vacancies on its website? Kelly Services??

Salary treatment

Rumour has it that mother Exxon gets about 8.8% increase, on average collectively amongst all business unit/performance. Any update on what IOL numbers will be like?

Benefits if you're walked out?

Strongly suspect that if I were to put in my two weeks notice that I'd be immediately walked out the door. Anyone know if that would impact benefits (i.e. health insurance) for the remaining two weeks? I'd assume they'd still be good and not shut... — read more

Attrition doesn't slow down

It has literally become a guessing game of who will leave our team next. People are continuously leaving and there are no signs that attrition will at least slow down any time soon. I don't know if there is even a way this company can retain... — read more

TMTS....and so it begins....

Managers are too chicken to even give their direct reports a heads up. These asian clones just show up at site and managemet expects you to do the data transfer. Bring out the data sync cable ppl. Good luck getting ppl to train their job away.

Where is the share of the gain for the rest?

Imperial Oil shares hit all time high of $79.83 today. Share price was $24.45 at the end of last year. So, all the stock options that management got at the end of last year has tripled in valve. Good news for the management folks for sure... — read more

All managers are awful

Some managers and team leads are absolute bullies. They are inhuman and ruthless. There's no need to use "some" in this context. All managers are bullies. We used to have good managers but they were driven out because they were not good fits for... — read more

When do you expect more layoffs to happen?

There are those who say that there won't be any soon, but there are also some rumors that more layoffs are soon to follow. In any case, it is always better to be prepared. I wonder if anyone has any insight on how far we are from the new cuts?

Union

With talks of layoffs and cuts, we need to unionize. Many crown corps and government offices have unions, and the pay and job security are decent. This includes office workers (CL25 and below).

Imperial Forum

A few things I learned after the forum: Management is way out of touch with reality. Record high inflation, attrition, but no bonuses? We are Imperial Oil so we won't follow the same pay bonus as Exxon but will literally do everything else like... — read more

I wish I knew the trick before I quit

The trick is, get a job outside, and ask for a start date few months later. Use “silent quitting” to get fired/PIPed. Then you get the severance package before starting your new job. This is very effective for folks who have more than 10 years in... — read more

IOL Upstream Engineering - Head Count Reduction

I am struggling to believe what I heard. Did I hear it right that IOL’s Upstream Engineering will be trimmed by 60 people by the end of the year? If it doesn’t happen by attrition, the balance will be PIPed/laid-off??

Completing a PIP

Has anyone been put on a PIP and not lost their job? I was highly ranked and the last few years was ranked Very Good, then Good, and now NSI with PIP. Also, anyone with severance info would be great. I feel like this is inevitable.

Feeling underpaid

Considering the amount of work I do, I am underpaid. Have you compared your salary with that of some competing companies? I did and that made me even more demoralized. It seems that if you want to be adequately compensated the only solution is to... — read more
