Thread regarding Imperial Oil Limited layoffs

No new hires

Except co-op positions, there is no new hiring across the company. Positions freed up due to retirement and attrition are not filled.

How long can we go on like this?

The hiring freeze has to do with new jobs moving to BTC. Move to india and you might have a change to get hired by Exxon.

If you've worked at exxon and imperial you would see how fat imperial is. Get ready for ride over the next few years.

....And to make things worse, Imperial has creating a bunch of these "lead" positions, which are essentially "all talk no work" positions.

If you are one of the "doers" who find yourself already over-worked, be prepared to be over-worked even more.

Imperial is way overstaffed. Consider yourselves fortunate that there have not been mass layoffs with so many jobs having migrated to Bangalore and GBS. There are a disproportionate numbers of Executives, especially in the Finance function, where a case can be made for only one or two at most.

It’ll go on until everything is sold off/3rd party, offshored, and absorbed into ExxonMobil which will then be moved to Texas. Look at what happened to the Canadian labs, hiring freeze for many years with only co-ops, until they were replaced with contractors. Headcount dropped over the years all to be shutdown and moved to Texas….with many Canadians loosing their careers, income, pensions, benefits, etc….
