A pension at retirement - soon to be a thing of the past?

Hearing consistent rumors of pension plan to be soon terminated/bought out. Am I in an echo chamber, or that’s a rumor across the board?

@OP A friend recently left the company and when he was working with Sunlife on getting his commuted pension they mentioned something about it going away for new hires
