Water cooler talk

Towards the ending of June, there were rumors of impending RIFs. Since then I haven’t heard a thing. Is it true or just the rumor mill churning its usual BS? Have there been RIFs and people just aren’t talking about it? Or are there still some cuts... — read more

Will be joining Morgan Stanley as a new grad through TAP in MS WMT. Was wondering how WMT faired back during the layoffs of 2019. Also, which teams/'fleets' should i avoid during team matching? thank you so much!

I consider myself lucky

A lot of people are not happy at MS and I can understand why to an extent, but I consider myself to be very lucky to have a job here despite it all. Have you looked at other banks on this forum? Our issues pale in comparison to what some of them are... — read more

MS Hiring adverts kicking up a notch in LinkedIn

Noticed that in the last few days the new role hiring adds kicking up notch in LinkedIn. Budgets usually get released in March / April for new hire drives. So not too sure if this is any indication of a small RIF coming up soon or not

Morgan Stanley Layoffs 2021

Is this going to be an interesting year as it relates to Morgan Stanley Layoffs 2021? Any news or rumors?

Better to be safe than sorry

I know for the rest of the year there will be no layoffs - or so we’ve been told. But over the last few months I’ve seen too many financial institutions doing “cost reductions,” which usually amount to RIFs, to take anything for granted. Over the... — read more

Is Morgan Stanley Better in Trader Pay?

I am a VP equity derivatives trader. I work in one of big banks, think JPM / BAML / Citi. My boss told me that don’t expect a big comp rise this year. In the past, I usually get a 8% to 10% rise every year. However, my bonus still less than... — read more

How bad will 2011 be?

Any indications about potential Headcount cuts in early 2021? Firm has already publicly commented about the need for less real estate.

New hire at Morgan Stanley

I want to ask current or past employees, I just got hired for MS and I start soon. I currently got a decent job that happens to be safe during the covid 19 crisis. Im worried about being laid later this year if I move forward with MS. Is it a good... — read more

With this virus, how many of you were cut before xmas, and were able to land a job now that there is a virus going around. I'm in Montreal, and did have a job offer for DBA, but was cancelled due to the outbreak, so am still looking.

COVID 19 - December Layoffs - COBRA extended?

Who else finds this laughable?

Morgan Stanley (MS.N) Chief Executive James Gorman is receiving $27 million in total compensation in 2019, nearly 7% less than what he got the year before, the company said in a filing on Friday, following a reduction of bonuses staff-wide. Poor... — read more

What Goes Around Comes Around

If it's any consolation, the MD who had me fired four years ago was bumped off himself last week. The guy was a blithering id–t who could endlessly blather for hours with no content that fooled the fools in upper management. Goodbye Mr Z.

This place is doomed

Severance package is ridiculous
