Thread regarding Morgan Stanley layoffs

New Job since layoff

With this virus, how many of you were cut before xmas, and were able to land a job now that there is a virus going around. I'm in Montreal, and did have a job offer for DBA, but was cancelled due to the outbreak, so am still looking.

London market has definitely slowed down. It's frustrating that a December layoff doesn't qualify you for any of the Covid related benefits. Extremely disappointed in the treatment from a company of this size.

Had anyone else found anything. I heard that HR won’t do anything because these layoffs happened before the outbreak. You would think they would extend their services to us impacted. I’m still looking but it’s been difficult. I also heard that even while there are no cuts planned for 2020, people are starting to look outside for opportunities

While Morgan Stanley has promised no new layoffs in 2020, do they not have a moral responsibility towards those who were laid off and are now suffering further due to the COVID-19 breakout?
Anyone aware of anything initiated on this front?

There were ~45 of us affected in Montreal. I saw on LinkedIn that one was hired as a Scrum Master prior to the outbreak. I've noticed a definite drop in new job postings since lockdown measures started to be introduced. Of the other banks in Montreal, Desjardins and Societe Generale still seem to be interviewing and hiring, but with potentially deferred start dates, whereas BNP are "having some challenges onboarding during this period". Don't know about National Bank.
