Q2 Conference Call - Confidence

I encourage everyone to listen to the replay of this if you did not listen in to the call just finished. Very few questions on non-oil and gas, which was very positive. The one primary question on ESG was critical in it's asking being concerned in... — read more

New Energies...are we serious?

Take the head of MCBU and put him in charge of a brand new unit for alternative energy reporting directly to the CEO. Are we now serious about lower carbon or is this just more window dressing?

Misdemeanor Employee

What's the deal with a conviction, being an employee already? Do you have to disclose to HR or manager (some companies have that policy), or will they find out through routine background checks? The specific misdemeanor has no impact on job/job... — read more

HR resignation

I just heard another resignation this morning. I am not sure if i am the first to post about her but she shocked her manager. Finger pointing, excuses and blame are being shared among 3 or 4 GM/managers. They are now questioning who is "next".

I am in HR

And I apologize to all the people I had to let go over teams calls last year. Most of you are good, competent people. I saw the Sh*t that went on and it made me sick to my stomach.

Yes, another HR post...

I am in HR. It sucks. Morale is at an all time low and only getting worse by the week. RM's LT needs a purging. The newer Directors can stay, those that have been there for a while need to go. Everyone knows who they are. They are the least... — read more

Times are tough at Chevron

Times are really tough at Chevron. After struggling through a big layoff and now longer working hours and chaos in the organization. My question to you all is what is your ice cold beer choice after a tough day at work? I go cheap and go with Lone... — read more

What I've learned this week

I have learned that we need to "grab the barbed wire" and embrace the pain, not play the victim. I assume this company would have the same motivational quote in the low morale in 1940 at Oswiecim?

Hybrid work model

CBU has announced we will be doing the hybrid work model of three days a week in the office as/when we return. Have any other BU’s made an announcement yet?

It's 4:11pm. If I were in the office I'd be standing at a Metro bus stop waiting for my Park N Ride bus having packed up early to walk out there

After 45 mins to an hour I'd be home and inundated with dinner choices and new math questions. That's a soon to be occurring reality, but for now I am working full out to my end time, have something heating in the oven, and may just be able to assist... — read more

In light of requiring that non-vaccinated individuals wear masks, Chevron needs to be more diverse and inclusive in their stock people imagery.

Aligned with their goals of maintaining a diverse and inclusive workplace Chevron must include a portion of people wearing masks in their approved stock imagery to represent the diversity of views, health conditions, and personal choices across it's... — read more

Vax Facts

Anyone listen to the vax facts call? I am an expat in the US. I have to be vaccinated in order to keep this assignment but my peer who is a US employee doesn’t have to be vaccinated. How is this fair?

The grass really is greener!

I left Chevron recently from one of the hotly-debated functions in this forum facing turnover issues. I left because the function has been reduced to transaction-based chaos. I really loved all of my colleagues at Chevron, but the devaluation of my... — read more

What is wrong with Chevron HSE?

Every since the reorg, I have not been able to get anyone in HSE to help with anything. They all seem extremely bothered when I ask a question. When they roll something out, I asked if it got vetted in the field? I am told to just do it. Why do... — read more

Another Gorgon Fiasco

The woes never seem to end at Gorgon, our worst project ever. Today the American managers in charge in Perth tried to put a positive spin on the CO2 injection catastrophe but Australians, who built the project, are not amused.

People and Culture meeting this week

RM and Dr. P-a winning combo if there ever was one! As usual, too scared to use PollEV. Nothing meaningful or new will be shared. Let me save everyone some time with these predicted sound bites. Maybe we should play canned response bingo. —We are... — read more

Vaccine Mandate vs Your Job

Vaccine mandates by universities and businesses are spreading. Delta variant is spreading like a California wildfire. How many here would take the shot, or shots, and keep that big paycheck or just say no and leave for better places, either... — read more

Stock collapse

CVX this week was the same price as about 2008. What a disaster. Nearly 14 years of no progress in the business. Management furiously spin their wheels chasing ways to goose the stock so their options pay off, but nothing has worked. The industry... — read more

How come they don't see the problem with agile?

All this digital and agile and other cr-p buzz words will end up in disaster, the monekys who just want to copy others will fail miserably. I agree. However, what's not clear to me is how come they don't see that agile does not work? Everyone... — read more

Electric planes

United just ordered battery powered 20-seater planes for delivery within five years. By then larger planes will be electric and aviation fuel sales will be done. Chevron needs to move faster.

Pinned down

Anyone else fell just pinned down at the job?

Meeting regarding mindsets

Did anyone else attend the town hall meeting featuring the guy telling us not to be the victims in the current Chevron bad work environment? It seems people like JG and others want to focus on mindset and not playing the victim then actually fixing... — read more

New BOD member?

Word on the street is new additions to the board are being vetted and one that guy from Lakewood Baptist church. I find this news shocking and disturbing and hope you do as well.

Quiet period?

HR. Where are you? Vacation? Quiet period before mass resignations? Or did the troll just get bored and move on?

Collaboration versus Procrastination

When we all return to the office this Fall, I challenge everyone to take note of whether we are actually collaborating or just wasting time going for coffee, gossiping in offices and huddle rooms, taking lunch and going to the bathroom. Will all that... — read more

Delta and return to work status

With Delta roaming and evidence pointing to far less effectiveness of existing vaccines agsins it, do hou still think we will be in office in the US in September? More deadly variats are emerging and makes me think we might WFH for much longer.

Digital Platforms might be Renamed

I heard from one of the so-called "Technical" platform managers that due to the blowback of how poorly IT has managed the transformation, the term Digital Platform is now viewed in a negative light by non IT folks in the company. The CDO is... — read more
