Is the big round of layoffs definitely happening in October?

Or are we still in the speculation phase? I’ve been hearing about small batches of people being let go here and there, though it’s hard to know what’s true. But nothing concrete yet about the major round that’s supposedly coming. Not that it would be a shocker, but a heads-up would be nice.

AI Farley speaking out both sides of his mouth

So saw the article today: Wall Street Walks Away From Ford as CEO Farley Flounders - 24/7 Wall St. https://share.google/f5JfUZAue6kJArNq4

Astounds me. When will companies figure it out. Fire employees bring in AI to replace them. Who will be able to afford their products being unemployed /replaced by AI??

Make it make sense!!

Why Layoff 350?

I don't get it. Ford decided to layoff 350 people in may. We can estimate this to be a savings of $42,000,000. Ford's net profit for 2024 was $5.9 billion. What was the point of the layoff? It seems like a drop in the bucket.

Now I'm still looking for a job in this terrible market. A single dad trying to take care of his kid, all while my money running is out. -- It's amazing, I once was celebrated by the company at the highest levels for my contributions (seriously). Now i'm tossed out into the street.

Temporary layoffs in Brazil

Germany's Bosch to cut 13,000 jobs in blow to auto sector

German industrial giant Bosch said Thursday it would cut 13,000 jobs, mostly in its auto unit, in the latest blow for the country's ailing car sector.

The auto industry in Europe's biggest economy has been hammered by fierce competition in key market China, weak demand and a slower than expected shift to electric vehicles.

The cuts, all of which will take place in Germany, represent about 10 percent of Bosch's total workforce in the country, and three percent of its staff worldwide.

We made the list!

Michigan made the list for job losses. Specifically, the automotive sector.

Ford 2019 Redesigned Models are getting Ax

in 2019, which is 6 years ago, Ford introduced the new redesign models Explorer, Escape, F150, Mustang, and Transit. The only model that is still selling above 100,000 units per year is the F150. If you look at these vehicles after 6 years, they are all still look the same.

This is the main reason why Ford vehicles sales are down. Why would anyone want to buy a new vehicle that looks like the ones from 6 years ago.

Ford will ax the Escape and Transit, the Mustang is iconic so Ford will hold on to it even though Ford loses money making the Mustang.

Rivian Cuts Jobs While Betting Big on Cheaper R2 SUV to Win Buyers

Hundreds of EV workers laid off as administration pulls back on tax incentives: 'An ongoing effort to improve operational efficiency'

https://www.thecooldown.com/green-business/rivian-commercial-team-layoffs-ev-manufacturer/

  • Rivian said that the job cuts were limited to its commercial team, which is responsible for sales and servicing operations.
    Industry Tag: Automotive

Electric vehicle maker Rivian has announced that it will cut about 1.5% of its workforce, affecting several hundred employees. The layoffs are concentrated within the company’s commercial team, which oversees sales and service operations. Rivian described the move as part of an ongoing effort to “improve operational efficiency” while preparing for the release of its new, more affordable SUV, the R2, scheduled to launch in 2026.

The new R2 model is expected to start at around $45,000, significantly less than Rivian’s current lineup, which includes the R1S SUV (starting at roughly $77,000) and the R1T pickup (around $71,000). Analysts see the R2 as crucial for Rivian to broaden its customer base and compete more effectively in the EV market.

These layoffs come against a backdrop of significant regulatory changes affecting the EV industry. The $7,500 federal tax credit for electric vehicles is set to expire on September 30, 2025, years earlier than originally planned. That policy change has placed additional financial strain on EV-only automakers like Rivian, which lack gas-powered models to offset regulatory costs.

Another major setback was the removal of strict Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) penalties. In the past, traditional automakers that failed to meet fuel efficiency standards could buy credits from EV-focused companies like Tesla and Rivian. Tesla alone earned $2.8 billion globally through this system, and Rivian has warned that the loss of these credits could cost it about $100 million.

Rivian is not the only automaker affected. In August, General Motors temporarily laid off 360 workers at its Factory ZERO plant in Detroit, citing “market dynamics” and reduced EV demand. The rollback of incentives and regulatory requirements signals a broader challenge for the EV industry, which must now compete more directly with traditional gasoline-powered vehicles at a time when production costs remain high.

For consumers, the end of the federal EV tax credit means those considering a switch to electric vehicles may want to act quickly. However, Rivian hopes its lower-priced R2 SUV will keep buyers interested when it enters mass production in 2026.

H1Bs Monopoly

Most of the H1Bs are remote and having working multiple jobs, and pulled unqualified spouses into the company. When will this stop? Ford is renewing H1Bs while laying off Americans!!! WAKEUP!!!!!

Ford will discontinue production the Escape just like the other models - Can't Compete !

Ford will stop production of the Escape, just like the other discontinue models. Ford can't compete with Toyota, Kia, Hyundai, Mazda, or Nissan any more. The sales number of the Escape continue to drop and Ford is loosing money making the Escape.

Same as these models: Edge, Fusion, Taurus, Fiesta, Focus, Explorer Hybrid, Transit Connect.

For Mach E, and Lightning are next on the list.

Soon Ford will not be able compete in the pickup truck industry. This is when Ford will declare bankruptcy.

Ford Update on Quality and Recalls

Ford has significantly improved product quality. Our 2025 initial quality is on track to become among our best ever, and Ford was the most awarded brand in the recent J.D. Power 2025 U.S. Initial Quality Study, with four Ford vehicles topping their segments.
The increase in recalls reflects our intensive strategy to quickly find and fix hardware and software issues and go the extra mile to help protect customers. Ford has more than doubled its team of safety and technical experts in the past two years and significantly increased testing to failure on critical systems in current Ford vehicles such as powertrains, steering and braking. Insights from this testing are being incorporated into current production.

We are making progress on software quality, using an enhanced software validation process to help ensure the right software is present on vehicles and using over-the-air updates to address potential warranty issues before they become customer issues.
Modern digital safety systems require new talent, tools, and standards. Ford has deeply invested in those capabilities like connected data signaling and dramatically increased testing on all new products across broad variations in customer use.

In applying these new standards, we can and do find issues that exist on earlier model years, including ones that have not even been reported. We will not compromise our responsibility to all our customers, not just those buying new vehicles.

We believe this approach will lead to systemic and lasting positive change and help us reach world-class levels for quality, safety and customer satisfaction.

Hiring Stellantis Management

Apparently our "leadership", for lack of better words, believe that none of the current employees who have dedicated decades to the company and know its people and processes are competent enough to be promoted.

HR must have been wooing the Stellantis hires long before walking the Ford employees out as their replacement are announced with 48 hours. No wonder morale is low.

ALL GONE WITH THE WIND

Within the sales organization, many highly talented individuals have been let go — notably Account Executives and Industry Experts. A few years ago, in EMEA, I had the opportunity to review several account plans in sectors like Telco, Aerospace, and Automotive. I still remember exceptional strategic thinking that went into our plans for Vodafone or Airbus. Professionals who knew their clients deeply and instinctively were on command. The depth, creativity, and relevance of our strategies for complex industries were truly outstanding — second to none ! . And now, all those great people are gone. Brilliant, sharp and fast minds all fired ! Dead weights and slackers, all rewarded ! Deadly politics at play.
