Another round of layoffs 10-30-2023

Another round of layoffs today and this week. More are happening across the organization. This is going to continue through the end of the year. They might skip a week here and there. But be prepared. Remember the goal is 45% reduction.

Leadership

Any time a company thinks their strategy is to CUT their way to EBITDA growth and that's the only lever they are pulling, its bad leadership - in this case relying on McKinsey (what a joke). Sad for these employees.

Maybe Company Buyout is Needed

Gainwell is exiting so many employees through RIFs, including many knowledgeable employees and employees that have strong relationships on the state accounts. Gainwell is also losing a lot of its knowledgeable and ethical employees. Only the toxic... — read more

Leadership changes

Lots of new faces. Karen Shields (she/her) is gone. https://www.gainwelltechnologies.com/leadership/

New owner is going to clean house.

My inside source tells me that when the new owner takes over that they are going to clean house. Meaning they are going to bring in their own leaders, strip down each department to the bare minimum number of employees, and scrutinize every contract... — read more

Nov 23 layoff

Hiring more executives

Gainwell continues to bring on more executives. More C Suite people. Is this a sign of struggle? Is it a sign of putting on a good face for the upcoming sale?

Just Know

Just know that this is a bad company Just know that the leadership is horrible Just know that you are a number Just know that you could be laid off at any time Just know that this company is losing more business than they are bringing in Just... — read more

GWT continues to lose more business.

As Gainwell continues to lose more contracts, one has to ask themselves when the next round of layoffs will happen. Less contracts simply means less employees needed.

Gainwell Employee Handbook - the most threatening and demeaning document I’ve ever read from this company!

The Gainwell Employee Handbook is out. We are all required to read it and sign off on it. If you just skimmed it you should do yourself a favor and read it. It comes off more like a declaration of war against its employees more than anything. There... — read more

Culture Ki-ler

I read something today about the 12 ways to destroy a culture. Here they are. And it looks like Gainwell is guilty of them all. Disrespect people Don’t clarify roles Micromanage Fail to recognize good work Keep employees in the... — read more

Merit Increases posted

Raises are pitiful. From the internal site: Go to: mygainwell@work - My Profile - Compensation Information - Compensation Statement

Another DDI failure

How much stuff can this company mess up and still remain in business? They can reorganize as many times as they want. Isn’t it obvious that’s not the problem?

Raises are bad this year

Word is the merit raises are pretty bad this year, just got a 2.5% raise and I had put in an excellent year. GW is not taking care of it's workforce in regards to competitive pay, adjusting for inflation and high interest rates. Don't expect much. — read more

Merit Raises

Any word on when merit raises and when they will be approved? By this time last year they had been approved. Something going on?

Something Odd...

Even if Gainwell is this bad place to work or has bad upper management?!¿ How is it that some employees have been here for over 15 years... Why do they stay? Does the toxicity of this company affect them as well? or No? Are they impervious to the... — read more

Just a number

When a company decides that the leaders are more valuable than the workers it’s time to leave. Gainwell has sent that message loud and clear.

Why defend Gainwell?

Why do some employees defend Gainwell? Why do they get defensive when someone talks about how poorly the company is operated? Sometimes the truth is hard to hear.

Why didn’t I see it before?

I wanted to believe Gainwell was a good place to work. I wanted to believe leadership was good. I wanted to believe that my coworkers were well educated and knew exactly what they were doing. I wanted to believe Gainwell was financially strong. I... — read more

Has Gainwell ever been a good place to work?

I have been part of Gainwell since it became Gainwell. The entire time is has been nothing but constant turmoil, layoffs, stress, and unknown. All of the employees around me just operate - business as usual. They seem to think everyone else is the... — read more

This is 100% a leadership failure

They didn’t hire the right people. They didn’t give proper training. They didn’t develop a well laid out plan. They fail to admit that they don’t know what they are doing. They screwed the state of California out of millions of... — read more

Gainwell doesn’t have a clue

Big town hall brag was that Gainwell landed the California Population Health Management Account. They have been on that project for 11 months and haven’t delivered anything. Now big meeting with Karen Shields and the project is on pause. Why? ... — read more

It is not enough to just sweep problems under the rug

People here are not so naive that they don't see that the company is not doing very well. So why is the leadership silent about it and pretending that the problem does not exist? That seems like a pretty desperate move to me.
