Thread regarding Gainwell Technologies layoffs

Any layoffs this week?

Are we sure it's over for now or will there be more?

Everyone does them monthly. California just has to fill out the info every month. Everyone else does not. It is automatic and carries over for everyone else.

People who live in CA have to do the exclusion checks monthly. Every one else, every year.

Could someone elaborate on what they mean by "ensure no one working for our company appears in state and/or federal exclusion databases". Thank you.

My sources say 1,966 laid off in October.

Where are you getting this 480 number?

I’m here to tell you that number is far from correct. The actual number is much higher.

12,000 Employee's - Backgrounds done pre-hire and at the State level.
12Kx$45.00= $540,000.

Hey anon: if you’re going to post stats, at least get them right.

We lost 480 people in this latest WFR with more in corp functions than delivery.

“ It’s not over.

More will happen this week and the rest of this month.

And December.

Approximately 4,000 more on top of the nearly 2,000 that happened in October.”

Boss: Hey boss I have an idea. Let’s do background checks on ALL employees every single month.

Manager: WTF?

Boss: Just think of how much more compliant we will be. And we can use that as a selling point for future business.

Manager: Aren’t we like losing money?

Boss: Yeah but this can help us weed out the bad employees. It will save us money in the long run.

Manager: Uhhh. You don’t really think that do you?

Boss: Hey am I the boss or are you?

Manager: I just want to be clear that you want me to spend the rest of our cash reserves on this project.

Boss: You let me worry about the finances.

Manager: Will my paychecks keep coming in?

Boss: I said you let me worry about the finances.

It definitely says monthly.

Yeah that’s not monthly.

That is yearly. The timing just happens to be in the midst of a WFR.

Good try though.

"Who is getting credit and background checks done monthly?"

The email was first sent on 11/6 from the Chief Legal Officer regarding Exclusion Screening. In the Required Action section it states, "To ensure Gainwell complies with federal law, we will begin screening all team members monthly to ensure no one working for our company appears in state and/or federal exclusion databases."

And then, the team received an email from First Advantage on 11/8 and upon reading their disclosure it states, "I also understand that my offer of employment and/or continued employment with Gainwell is contingent upon successful completion of Gainwell's background screen, which may include a criminal background check and ongoing, continuous related monitoring and exclusion screening, verification of prior employment, verification of education, credit check and other information required by Gainwell as allowed by local law."

Gainwell is not obligated to pay any severance.

As the layoffs continue and the funds dry up severance will decrease and eventually go away. No severance will be given. In large WFRs it’s best to get let go first.

Times are going to get tough for the holidays.

All of you should be prepared for the worst. No one is safe.

Middle manager here. When I asked senior leaders if my department would be affected I was told that they will notify me if/when it is. And that no department is immune to the layoff effort. Veritas is targeting cost savings. Their main target is FTEs. Either a reduction or offshoring.

Good luck everyone.

"The war room is all part of the strategy to continue layoffs and offshoring. As more cuts happen things will need to be more and more strategic with the next cuts. Remember 45% reduction is the goal. It’s going to get tough for the holidays."

Could it be that the exclusion and continuous credit and background check done monthly is a sketchy strategy brought about by the war room to target people and fire them so they don't have to pay up for any kind of severance? I mean paying severance to cut 45% of the workforce will definitely cost a lot of money. Maybe paying a thrid party is cheaper than paying thousands of people severance.

If there is truly a war room then things are getting real.

Are direct department supervisors and managers involved with the layoff planning? Or are they going to be informed by corporate the day of the layoff for any team member(s)?

Let me get this straight.

How do you stand up new accounts?

DDI has failed on every single attempt. Yep just keep doing that. That will make you successful.

Sarcasm.

It is NOT working. Why in the he-l would you just keep doing it?

The company is about to go bankrupt. I think it’s time for some drastic changes.

There are other, more optimized ways to implement new business. From what I understand, the DDI process is so backwards, it should be scrapped altogether and a new process built out... will never happen but one can dream.

If DDI is eliminated, how do they stand up new accounts? Honest question

Layoffs strike again.

We lost 5 people in my department today.

It’s an enterprise wide WFR.

That means every job in every department is at risk.

DDI could be eliminated.

Worthless department. None of them have been successful to date.

Of course it’s going to affect those departments.

When accounts are lost due to poor performance all of those departments are involved.

It’s an across the board WFR. Some departments will be eliminated completely.

Is it going to affect all departments, including operations (claims processing, call center, provider enrollment, documentation, auditing, mail room)?
