That’s true - large healthcare corporations house client data within US data centers and allow VPN access to employees from anywhere around the world.
State contracts do NOT require that work be done in the US. They may require that the data be housed in the US. But that is easy to get around. Remote access allows users to be anywhere and still access the data.
I wouldn’t say any role is safe. There are stricter rules for PHI and contracts that would need to be evaluated with our clients. Gainwell is in cost cutting mode so I don’t think anyone is truly safe. There are also efforts to automate and use AI wherever possible. I’m just taking it one day at a time and keeping options open, that’s all anyone can do.
If what you are saying is true, then is it safe to say that production teams (claims, call center, enrollment, etc.) are likely spared from the layoffs because they deal with PHI?
@aczz+1pQPGt1y Yes and No. If the work doesn't touch any PHI then it likely can move off shore or be outsourced.
I don’t get the offshoring angle. Don’t state Medicaid contracts require work be done in US?
He's been here for at least 2 months. The outsourcing initiative has nothing to do with him, it was well under way before he joined the organization.
How long has he been at Gainwell?
Gee, no wonder Gainwell is outsourcing our jobs to India as fast as they can.
