Prudential Center Barnes & Noble Closing Permanently

The Barnes & Noble in the Prudential Center is permanently closing after its owners said they could not reach an agreement with their landlord. “We have truly enjoyed serving our customers and the community for the past 20 years!” the business... — read more

More closings?

It’s just a rumor, but where there’s smoke there’s fire. Does anyone have more information? I am constantly waiting for closing announcements, because it's no longer possible to expect any changes for the better, unfortunately. When I read the... — read more

BARNES & NOBLE CLOSING DOWN FOR GOOD

If you doubting hopefuls want a taste of reality. Sadly, Corporate has officially announced New England's flagship store will be closing in June.

Barnes and Noble positive trends

https://www.nytimes.com/2022/04/15/arts/barnes-noble-bookstores.amp.html Great article on how well B&N is doing and the positive impact it’s having on independent bookstores and the publishing industry.

Store moving locations

If a store is about to move into a smaller space soon, does that mean that not all employees will still have a job after the move?

Not everybody hates B&N

I know it's popular to hate on Barnes & Noble, especially on this forum, but there are plenty of people who don't feel that way, both employees and customers. Some even created a petition to bring it back to their community. Imagine... — read more

B&N Kitchen

Has B&N gotten out of the restaurant business? It looks like they have shut down The Kitchen at the Scarsdale, NY store.

Why wait to be laid off?

There is a terrible atmosphere at my store and everything suggests that there could be some cuts very soon. It is difficult to expect anything better. I sincerely hope to be able to find a job before I get laid off. It happened to me once that I... — read more

There aren't many ways to stop the decline

Management's moves are sometimes very frustrating. BN is definitely sinking. However, when I think about it a little better, is it even possible to do anything to at least slow down that decline? I'm afraid BN doesn't have much of a chance to stop... — read more

Amazon closing stores

I know this doesn't improve our situation in any way, but it's still good to see that even Amazon can fail spectacularly. Amazon closing its 68 bookstores after posting low... — read more

Bismarck,ND closing

Bismarck, ND closed after 20 years and is opening a temporary location in a nearby mall while they look for a permanent location? The landlord did not renew the lease and a health care facility is opening in the old location.

I work for money. If you want loyalty, hire a dog.

I refuse to stay a minute over my time unless you're going to pay me for it. That whole "we're all in this together, help out your coworkers, show some loyalty" cr-p no longer works on me. I'm sick and tired of being treated like cr-p and then... — read more

Overtasked and understaffed

These are the company's death throes. They're just experimenting on how long they can keep the stores open with less than a skeleton crew. They've already decided to call it quits but they'll make sure to milk it for as long as they can... — read more

Condensing Store to 1 Floor

My beautiful store which was 2 floors and absolutely huge was reduced to 1 floor. Their are offices on top now. What does this mean to you all?

RIP BARNES & NOBLE

More sad news. After a horrible holiday season of miserably weak sales, James Daunt has made a new list of stores to close. This comes after a pre-holiday announcement of store closures which are now in the process of packing it up for good. Other... — read more

This is all on corporate

Everything that's wrong on the store level is on them. They have no idea what happens in stores and what could improve things, yet they're still the ones who make all the decisions. Any feedback we provide is completely ignored, they just continue... — read more

I'm shocked BN is still standing

I gotta give credit where credit's due. I thought it would collapse years ago when I left. Seeing there are still stores around is a shock. Reading here about the treatment of employees and the state of said shops is not a shock, though. I guess no... — read more

DAUNT TOURING FAILING B&Ns to CLOSE in 2022

James Daunt is on a tour deciding which stores will be closing. It was inevitable, the company had it's moment but if you're still barely hanging on and you see this guy in your store- your time is up.
