Thread regarding Barnes & Noble layoffs

This is all on corporate

Everything that's wrong on the store level is on them. They have no idea what happens in stores and what could improve things, yet they're still the ones who make all the decisions. Any feedback we provide is completely ignored, they just continue doing what they think is best. Who gives a damn about the people who work in the trenches, right?

I don't know why anyone from TGT would be lecturing at all.
Granted, B&N has a miserable working environment and upper management is brainless and takes it out problems on the people below them but from what I hear, it isn't much better where you are.

To the Corporate Zombie-
Come back and lecture us again when they lay you off.

If you were smart . You no longer work there.
If you’re still there.then you’re the opposite.

You work for a company. You do as they say. They pay you to implement their ideas. You want to run things your way ? Open your own store.

This type of post never ceases to make me smile. The whole "corporate doesn't listen to us" bit. Having worked for 12 years in stores and in corporate (8 years) prior to leaving in 2020, there are two sides to every story. Stores have the benefit of knowing their customers intimately. While this scope is great, the focus is very narrow, and doesn't always translate into company-wide benefits. Corporate's scope is to make decisions on a wide scale, and has the duty to ensure they are in the best interests of the entire company. Just as in the store we have difficult customers, it is challenging to get Senior Management to agree with any new program or process due to cost, etc. Personally, I miss BN, but have moved to TGT (Corp), and found similar sentiments there. The two sides will just need to agree to disagree on what's best, and just do their best at their roles.

You're totally right, they put the worst people in charge. Here in New England, the Regional Manager is responsible for eliminating the best workers and they all had actual book knowledge. Today they'll take anyone off the street.
