The negatives of bureaucracy
In any case, there are more negative than positive sides of the bureaucratic system like the one at GM. Bureaucracy makes it difficult to even talk to someone outside the team and it's a source of frustration. I don't think there is anyone here who... — read more

Cutting off exports to Russia
Although many say that cutting off exports to Russia will not be terribly costly for GM, I am still afraid that in the end it could result in some layoffs. I hope that doesn't happen. Thoughts?
A perspective for the future

Why is this company sinking?
Let's discuss.
Is this becoming a mediocrity company?
It’s amazing how little they care about retaining talent. My personal opinion is that GM will regret such treatment of the best people but then it may be too late. Great people not only don't want to work here because they can have much higher... — read more

Stealth Layoffs @ GM
Before the last big layoff (was it 2019?), they spent the whole previous year silently laying off 10% of most departments. Nothing was announced, you just noticed that people disappeared. It was spread over the whole year.
Who mentioned layoffs?
I don't think there will be any layoffs for a long time. Of course, one should never completely relax, but my personal opinion is that there will be no cuts for now. Moreover, we are understaffed to such an extent that everyone does a double or... — read more

What bothers you the most at GM?
Personally, I don't have many objections, except that I would like to be a little less overwhelmed with work and have a better work-life balance. At the moment I have so much work to do that I can't get enough rest. I hope this is just a phase.
Reduction in managemet
I remember during the layoffs of 2019 they were supposed to layoff some percentage of management. Did they actually reduce the number, did they just shuffle and replace like a lot of the white collar positions, or was it all BS?
