Thread regarding General Motors layoffs

What signs can help a person know if they're about to be laid-off?

For example, suddenly being asked to document your work like you are about to hand it off to somebody.

EGM tell you to put together an email for the director saying what you've done that year. I'm sure it doesn't really matter but it does add more insult to injury, just how GM directors like it.

I received an automated test email the night before I was laid off in Milford in 2019, and then received an IM message from the director to meet in a room the next day. They had just hired a large group of us in the ADAs group (some moved from across the country), and they axed 25% starting with the most recent hires with the least amount of tenure. To be fair, they did try to re-hire a portion of us sketchily after laying us off via similar positions to not cause a gap in benefits etc....but what a wild approach!

I saw an EGM offer leadership work to a person right before the director walked up to take them away. Turns out the whole meeting was a scam so they knew where to find the person. Pretty sleazy if you ask me.

This is so true...
"Whisper campaigns" are in full swing. Lead decides who he doesn't like and then "reports out" to the EGM. Lead is doing the EGM's work for him so the EGM tends to listing to the lead. This ensures that the EGM doesn't have to do any work, besides go to the manager meetings, as required.

Your boss tells you to come into a conference room because your director wants to talk to you.

I was looking at the chart in the link wondering if negative values were a good things. I don't think they are based on this explanation for negative cash flow.

When the capital expenditures (CapEx) that the business has to make, outweigh the amount of cash that it generates from operations (CFO).

In 2019 you started hearing about not having enough free cash flow to please the shareholders. There is information about free cash flow at this website.

Certain coworkers keeping track of what you are doing and then describing it to others in degrading way while they ignore what you've said repeatedly.

When specific coworkers fight everything you so. For example, you come up with a way to shorten time to complete a large task significantly while improving quality only to have a technical specialist decides that it should not be implemented and doesn't even have a good reason.

Leading up to 2019, I had my manager tell me to give the work I was pushing forward to my coworker after things were moving
