Large FANG corporations have eaten significant loses on their stocks, and have now laid of thousands. Not all, but some. Others outside of automotive, are doing the same. It only seems logical that GM and other automakers will eventually follow suit, especially with how much their stock has declined.
Every corporate stock is getting beaten into the ground. This is GM 101, you should always have a nest egg set aside for eventual layoff. I didn't say in case of layoff. If you work for GM long enough, you have a darn near 100% certainty of layoff.
There’s already a hiring freeze in place- personally I’m not worried about layoffs in the slightest
