I don’t know how many of yall have worked in the HBCU region but oh my god. This is the second time in a month the ivory tower has blundered in the most racially insensitive way. Sending plush monkeys (NOT MASCOTS) to HBCUs to sell, printing Popeyes... — read more
Books are NOT coming for Rush.
Has anyone told the stores? It's going to be a nightmare. Most stores are 4 weeks out and a ton of vendors are not shipping. Some orders are having to be cancelled or resubmitted. There's no way we'll have the books in time to sell for Fall.
Scorecards seem.. sus
I swear the criteria for the scorecards is so ambiguous and.. honestly keeps changing. Scam?
Bankruptcy
You know, the last time a lease company had that many credit holds they had to restructure to keep from bring down their big box stores. Is Follett about to file bankruptcy? This is a really good question. The way things have been developing, I... — read more
Anything Happening Lately?
With the start of the new fiscal year, has everyone's hours still been cut? Has there been any talk of what the plans are for the forthcoming school year? Or, has corporate been silent and not having any communication with store managers as usual?
One Team Meeting Cancelled
I’ve been waiting for someone to mention this. Am I the only person who feels that having OTC cancel their end of year “look at all the great things we did!!!!” meeting is a little eerie?
It's Quiet... Too Quiet
What's up?
Buy Now Pay Later
Does anyone think this is a clusterf**k waiting to happen? Especially if implemented for Rush😞😕
Town Hall
Does anyone think they'll be announcing more layoffs at the upcoming Town Hall or just sketching out plans for next FY?

How are the top performing GM stores doing? Dud they cut staffing in all of those as well?
Is it worth sticking around for severance?
I have a family to support on a single income. I’ve been applying places but the market is tough. Wait for the eventual layoff or take a lower paying job?
I admit it
I drank the Kool-aid. I took the money and the promotions. For a year I heard promises and believed we were finally moving in a hard, but better direction. It’s not true. Target date to close is Friday, June 28. If I keep my mouth shut, keep my... — read more
Why companies go out of business
Consumers cited Circuit City's most obvious failing as its customer service, according to a 2008 article from Time. "In March 2007, [Circuit City] announced plans to lay off its highest-paid hourly employees, including salespeople, and replace them... — read more
Clearance on the clearance
Can we admit the decision was made to give the savings from lack of bonuses to the customers for their saving enjoyment. No chance stores make budget with all these steep discounts. Even if we did not have these discounts, inventory is so low that... — read more
Inventory
Wondering about long undone inventory. Since I am the only employee, no work study’s or part timers, how will the inventory be done and by whom? Just askin cuz no one is talking!
Red Lobster files for Bancruptcy - This is what private equity does
I know follett folks are asking, "that's too bad, but why post it here?" Good question. Red Lobster was an OK company. It was integrated with its supply chain. It earned a decent profit using a tried and true business model, for them. Sound familiar... — read more
They say anything nice about their employee?s
Have you noticed on LinkedIn they never have a nice thing to say about "us" their employees. They are always highlighting a vendor or the campus. Sure I've seen a few RM's giving their teams props...so kudos to them but the company as a whole as... — read more
have you tried giving people hours
I left this job in response to absolutely garbage scheduling. For the month of November 2022, we would have 21 hours per week. This sounded reasonable until I got clarification: 21 hours per week for the ENTIRE STORE. Total! You can't run a store... — read more

The Chosen few
I find it quite interesting the people who have been able to not only keep their jobs but have been promoted all have personal relationships to the RM. Layoff after layoff, they survive. None of them follow the trend of getting rid of the high paying... — read more
Make payroll or get written up
How are you supposed to function with less payroll than store open hours? Do we just leave a f****n note with instructions so the customers can ring themselves up? Corporate self image = Look at all we are doing to improve staff development and... — read more
California credit
I used to work at Follett School Solutions in Woodridge, Illinois. At the time, Follett extended a long line of credit to the customers & the school districts in California took full advantage of that.
Experiment
I wrote a post about a week ago and mentioned a current Follett employee by name. It was posted for just a little while and then disappeared. Hmmmmm! Curious!
Changes in the Follett Values expected soon

How does one file a hostile work environment against someone, or, is that just a pipe dream and will get rid of you for doing it and letting the hostility continue? I am sure HR will look at the one filing it and say "talk to your manager". What if... — read more

"Ooh, what a refreshing change
It is to come into work and all the systems are running smoothly" said no one ever who works at Follett.
Yesterday's events

NEED ANSWERS
What is going on now?? The secretive talking behind closed doors, nobody has job security. Tough working for a company when you don’t know if you’ll even have a job tomorrow!
It is here!
4/19 - this will be popcorn day. Make sure to have all your work done on 4/18 so the transition is positive and you have time to mourn like the others.
Hours Reduction AGAIN
I am so sick of this company saying "we don't have hours" that I could scream. So, if nothing is prepared for graduation or for incoming merch or books... that is on follett/jrc. Working with a skeleton crew or by yourself is not good management or... — read more
