Thread regarding Follett layoffs

Is it worth sticking around for severance?

I have a family to support on a single income. I’ve been applying places but the market is tough. Wait for the eventual layoff or take a lower paying job?

I think it depends on your years of service. If you have long tenure, then it may be worth waiting for severance.

If you enjoy working on your campus, keep a positive attitude and do not burn any bridges. Schools will still need stores. Maybe another company takes over or it becomes institutionally owned, you could be top candidate to remain in the store past Follett.

I received no severance, and I was with them over 20 years. Don’t hold your breath. File for bankruptcy in the moot anyhow.

The key is to change your mind set. Find comfort in your family and block out the noise from the ivory tower until a better path shows itself.

I am hoping Follett folds and we get absorbed by the campus.

Did your pay get drastically cut already? If not, do the best you can and wait it out.
Took me a year to find a job that i wanted. I had many offers but bad pay, or hours, or both. Look outside the box, dont look at retail jobs.
