The leadership keeps doing this the wrong way

Layoffs are necessary sometimes, I get that. But with that in mind, the fact who you lay off becomes the most important factor in how the company will continue to function in the future. And Cisco leadership continues to miss that point. Instead... — read more

Shills

Something tells me this board is mostly filled with people from the competition. The same way the rest of the internet is filled with Russian and Chinese bots and 50 cent army types.

JC uses to say if we’re not no. 1 or 2 in a market we will get out. We are #5 in servers.

Sad State of the Tech industry

I left HP in 2005 after close to a decade of employment. I was there during HP’s sunset and then the declining years. The company went downhill especially after 2000. It took two decades to become the sh– show that is HP today. The cause was mainly... — read more

Everybody should be looking for a new job

I feel really bad for people who are affected by the uncertainties at Cisco and the constant threat of layoffs. I think everybody should know by now that this is how it's going to be from now on. Don't expect that there'll be magically a time when... — read more

I Challenged LR and Won

I'm no longer at Cisco but will share my story after a ex-colleague phoned me up and told me about the upcoming LR. I was axed during the Sept 2017 layoff as a result of Spark being a PoS. I was a low grade at the time. My boss told me that my... — read more

LR Drinking Rules: One Beer Per Year

When several of us were LR'd three years back, we had a cookout and (attempted) to drink "one beer per year" for each of our tenures. No one made it through, but it was a blast. A bunch of folks not getting LR'd joined in. Highly recommend. ... — read more

With epic level of incompetence from our management team headed by Chuck, Kelly and Fran. History will not be kind.

No One Is Safe. Period

Cisco has a long history of cutting positions in Oct and Nov. Unbenonced to 90% of the employees not in mgmnt positions. Fed/public sector to private sector is far game and you could have a huge target on your back. Are you a grade 11 or above? ... — read more

Resist the urge to badmouth Cisco

It's very hard to not say negative things in an interview about the company that just laid you off, but remember that the interviewer is going to be thinking "what will this person say about us when they leave". Plus, no one wants to work with a... — read more

The culture of constant layoffs has been going on at Cisco almost a decade now. If you’ve survived the latest culling the best bet is to chart out a new landing spot or start working on a side business venture. By remaining in the same role at... — read more

So many people over 50 are being laid off these days and as I see it, very few companies are willing to hire anybody in that range. I'm wondering what are people doing about finding new jobs, especially with the pandemic-related hiring freezes added... — read more

Reality

Its a hard truth but Cisco really is a great company. I came from the brutal environment that was HPE, previously EDS. I saw my team shrink from 50+ to 4. Layoffs happened monthly. I saw my company go from EDS to HP to HPE to DXC. That is what... — read more
